16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence commences this Monday 25 November and runs for 16 Days until 10th December. This is a campaign that runs internationally to create awareness of all forms of Gender Based Violence and champion for the end of GBV. The County Government of Kisii in partnership with State and Non State Actors will engage in a series of activities in this period. Chit-chat with Dr. Meg is glad to be partnering to ensure all the forms within and around our County are eliminated. You're all welcome to join us.

Tomorrow 18th November we have a date with the Woman Rep Kisii County Hon. Donya Doris Aburi and the people of Gesieka in Kitutu North as we engage in Mentorship around the key areas: Reproductive Health & GBV. This event will be graced by 21 Woman Representatives across the country alongside other leaders in different capacities. See you there as we embark on the campaign of Activism against GBV.

Today is Mental Health Awareness Day. This year's theme is MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE. For those in positions of leadership, one can champion healthy environments in the work place in spite the pressure that comes with performance:

📌 Obtain leadership support and commitment
📌 Appoint workplace mentally wellness committee
📌 Develop a mental wellness policy in the workplace
📌 Operationalize workplace mental wellness programmes inclusive of retreats and capacity building
📌 Constantly review through M&E laid down guidelines as a means of improvement ( National Guidelines on Workplace Mental Wellness, 2023)

Chit-chat with Dr. Meg is proud to engage in a Gender Based Violence awareness program in partnership with Hon Purity Moraa Kirera . An amazing young woman who has invested not only her resources but the time to ensure the women in Bonchari Constituency are well informed on matters Breast Cancer and GBV. Empowerment of women is often threatened because of violence perpetrated against them by those they have loved most. This week a number of women within Kisii County will be the beneficiaries for these great talks as we mark the Breast Cancer awareness month and gear up for the 16 Days of Activism against GBV.

Young Women Christian Association( YWCA) is an International Organisation that brings together women of all age groups with the aim of Empowerment and Mentorship. Today, Chit-chat with Dr. Meg was honoured to be among the guests as young girls shared their achievements under the YW4A project. Reflection on the journey of womanhood, challenges faced and their achievements was the centre of conversation. Even as we strive to empower girls from humble backgrounds, we have to speak against feminisation of poverty. Let's champion for gender equity and equality not discrimination.
