POV: Thrive in 1985

Everyone’s asking ChatGPT what they would have looked like in the 80s, so naturally we thought, “Why not participate?🤷🏾‍♀️” ….but we decided to put our own spin on the trend😅

Instead of reimagining ourselves in the 80s, we asked: “What would an aesthetics and wellness clinic in Nairobi have actually looked like back then?”

The answer was a reminder of just how much the beauty and wellness industry has evolved, and Thrive would have definitely had to make a few adjustments 😅

Many of the treatments we offer today, either didn’t exist yet, weren’t widely available, or relied on completely different techniques and technology. Even familiar services would have been performed, presented, and experienced very differently.

So we took each of Thrive’s departments and reimagined them in an 80s setting, considering what could have realistically existed, what might have been done differently, and what simply belongs to the world of modern aesthetics.

Not every bump or growth on the skin is the same. While some may look similar, they have different causes and treatment considerations. Skin tags are soft, usually flesh-coloured growths commonly found around the neck, underarms, eyelids and skin folds. They are generally harmless and non-contagious.
