INTRODUCING - M’KADO (mˈkɑːdəʊ / ehm + kaa + doh)

The M’KADO Concept

Ikodo Enterprises is an agri-business based small-scale enterprise that will soon go into the production of high quality extra virgin avocado oil under the brand name M’KADO. This oil will be made from the finest farm fresh organically grown avocados sourced in Nyeri County.
To produce this oil, we have selected the highest quality machines to install and use within our production facility. The machines have been specifically sourced for this purpose so as to ensure we obtain the highest quality extra virgin avocado oil in the most efficient way possible.

M’KADO- The Oil

M’KADO oil will be made from the finest Hass & Fuerte avocados. They will be processed at peak ripeness to ensure an extremely high quality oil. Our avocado oil shall be 100% natural and unrefined. The oil will be extracted using a single cold pressed production method. This process ensures we retain all those essential nutrients.
We guarantee a chemical and additive free extraction process. We shall not use chemicals, high heat or any other methods of filtration to remove or change the natural waxes, colours, pulp or the lovely flavours that avocados are known for.
Avocado oil is known to have an extremely high smoke point, which is a key item when considering any oil for cooking. What is a smoke point? It’s the temperature at which the oil begins to smoke visibly in the pan (>250oc).

BTW, Why Avocado Oil?

Avocado oil contains a higher content of monounsaturated fats than olive oil. This high ratio of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids compared to saturated fats, helps contribute to an overall healthy diet.
Further to this, avocado oil is;
• Produced from the fleshy pulp of the avocado fruit.
• A multi-purpose oil that can be used in cooking, garnishing, salads, hair and skin care.
• Famous for its invigorating, regenerating and healing properties.
• A product that prevents high levels of triglyceride, high cholesterol, obesity and diabetes.
• A product that can reverse arthritis.
• High in lutein, an Antioxidant that has benefits for the eyes.
• Able to prevent gum disease.

Extra Virgin and Refined Oils - What's the difference?

Refined oils are those that are obtained by refining virgin oils using chemical and physical filters. Refined oils do not retain all of the nutrition of the virgin oil as it is "damaged" in the refining process.

What’s With The Look and Taste?

Like any good extra virgin oil, the look and taste will vary from region to region, production methods etc. Extra virgin oil has a superior, buttery taste with an aroma of avocado. The color of the oil should range from emerald green to yellowish green. The oil has a subtle avocado taste and should not feel oily on the tongue.

About That Quality

Quality comes from harvesting to production process. A carefully managed ripening process ensures only good fruit ripened to a specific point is used. Our cold press production ensures we retain all the natural nutrition. We try to keep all the good stuff in there! The oil is stored in tanks without any oxygen to prevent oxidation. This allows the oil to stay fresher for longer.

Then The Good Properties

The majority of essential fatty acids found in avocado oil are monounsaturated oleic acid, the same omega-9 EFA that won olive oil its claim to fame. Oleic acid is known to have several positive effects throughout the body including lowering risk of some cancers, preventing flare-ups of certain auto-immune diseases, speeding cell regeneration and wound healing, aiding the body in repelling and eliminating microbial infections, as well as reducing inflammation inside and out. Avocado oil is among the five foods with the highest Vitamin E content. This fat-soluble vitamin is known for improving skin and eye health, bolstering the immune system, providing defense against oxidative damage to cells caused by free-radicals, improving memory and mental acuity, as well as increasing the overall efficiency of the digestive tract.

The Cosmetic Properties

The vitamins and minerals in avocado oil are not only nourishing for the inside of your body, they are also able to feed you from the outside in. You can boost your skin's ability to generate more and stronger cells by moisturizing with avocado oil. Vitamins E, potassium, and lecithin which are the primary skin-feeding nutrients found in avocado oil are all easily absorbed through the epidermis - the outermost layer of the skin - and into the dermis where they provide energy for the growth and health of new skin as well as fortification of existing cells.

The Way Forward?

We will always try to improve our products and the way we conduct business. We shall aim to give the farmers that supply us with fruits back as much as possible.
With time we will also offer extra virgin avocado oil in bulk packaging and quantity.
