Tu crois que le cortisol est ton ennemi ? Pourtant, sans lui, tu ne pourrais pas vivre ! 👀

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI): Causes, Signs & Management

A urinary tract infection (UTI) usually happens when bacteria enter the urinary system, most often affecting the bladder. Most uncomplicated UTIs are caused by E. coli, and early treatment can help prevent the infection from spreading to the kidneys.

⠀

🟣 Burning Urination

➟ Pain, stinging, or burning while passing urine is one of the most common symptoms

➟ It happens because infection and inflammation irritate the bladder and urethra

➟ Burning can also occur with other conditions, so symptoms should be interpreted together

⠀

🟣 Frequent Urination

➟ You may need to urinate much more often than usual

➟ Only a small amount of urine may come out each time

➟ Bladder inflammation can create the sensation that the bladder needs emptying repeatedly

⠀

🟣 Urinary Urgency

➟ A sudden, strong need to urinate may occur

➟ It can feel difficult to delay going to the toilet

➟ Urgency often occurs together with frequency and burning

⠀

🟣 Lower Abdominal Discomfort

➟ Pressure, aching, or discomfort may occur above the p***c bone

➟ This is common with bladder infection (cystitis)

➟ Severe abdominal pain is less typical and may need further assessment

⠀

🟣 Bacterial Infection

➟ Most UTIs are caused by bacteria from the bowel entering the urinary tract

➟ E. coli is the most common cause

➟ Other bacteria can also cause infection

➟ UTIs are not usually considered sexually transmitted infections, although sexual activity can increase risk

⠀

🟣 Why UTIs Are More Common in Women

➟ Women generally have a shorter urethra, so bacteria have a shorter distance to travel to the bladder

➟ Sexual activity can increase the chance of bacteria entering the urinary tract

➟ Pregnancy and menopause can also alter UTI risk

➟ Recurrent UTIs are common in some women

⠀

🟣 Other Risk Factors

➟ Pregnancy

➟ Urinary retention or incomplete bladder emptying

➟ Kidney or bladder stones

➟ Enlarged prostate

➟ Urinary catheters

➟ Diabetes

➟ Structural urinary-tract problems

➟ Previous recurrent UTIs

⠀

🟣 Kidney Infection Warning Signs

➟ Fever or chills

➟ Pain in the side, back, or flank

➟ Nausea or vomiting

➟ Feeling significantly unwell or weak

➟ These symptoms may mean the infection has spread to the kidneys and need prompt medical treatment

⠀

🟣 Urine Testing

➟ A urine test may help confirm infection

➟ A urine culture can identify the bacteria and determine which antibiotics are likely to work

➟ Culture is particularly useful in recurrent, complicated, or treatment-resistant infections

➟ Pregnant people and men with suspected UTI usually need more careful assessment

⠀

🟣 Antibiotics

➟ Bacterial UTIs are treated with appropriate antibiotics when indicated

➟ The exact antibiotic depends on local resistance patterns, medical history, pregnancy status, kidney function, and culture results

➟ Take antibiotics exactly as prescribed

➟ Do not use leftover antibiotics from a previous infection

⠀

🟣 Hydration

➟ Drink enough fluids to avoid dehydration

➟ Normal hydration supports urine flow

➟ Excessive fluid intake is not necessary and does not replace antibiotic treatment when antibiotics are needed

➟ People with heart or kidney disease may need individual fluid advice

⠀

🟣 Pain Relief

➟ Paracetamol/acetaminophen may help with discomfort or fever

➟ Other pain medicines may be appropriate for some people

➟ Ask a pharmacist or doctor if you have kidney disease, stomach ulcers, pregnancy, or take other medicines

➟ Pain relief treats symptoms but does not treat the bacterial infection itself

⠀

🟣 Treat Underlying Problems

➟ Kidney or bladder stones may need treatment

➟ Urinary retention or an enlarged prostate may need further assessment

➟ Catheter-related infections may require specific management

➟ Recurrent infections may need investigation for an underlying urinary problem

⠀

🟣 When to See a Doctor

➟ Symptoms are severe or worsening

➟ You have recurrent UTIs

➟ Symptoms do not improve after treatment begins

➟ You are pregnant

➟ You are male and develop UTI symptoms

➟ You have diabetes, kidney disease, urinary abnormalities, or a weakened immune system

⠀

🟣 Seek Urgent Medical Care If

➟ You develop fever, chills, flank pain, or repeated vomiting

➟ You become confused, faint, unusually drowsy, or very weak

➟ You cannot keep fluids down

➟ Symptoms rapidly worsen

➟ These may indicate a kidney infection or sepsis

➟ In the US, call 911; in the UK, call 999 for severe or life-threatening symptoms

⠀

Medical disclaimer: This information is for general educational purposes only and does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Burning, frequency, or urgency can have causes other than a UTI, and fever, flank pain, or vomiting may indicate kidney involvement requiring prompt medical assessment.

Possible Signs of Oral Cancer ✅

Oral cancer can affect the tongue, lips, cheeks, gums, floor of the mouth, palate, or throat. Many of these signs can have harmless causes, but persistent or unexplained changes should not be ignored.
🔹 1. Non-Healing Mouth Ulcer
➟ Most ordinary mouth ulcers heal within 1–2 weeks.
➟ An ulcer that lasts longer than 2–3 weeks should be checked.
➟ It may be painless at first, so lack of pain does not always mean it is harmless.
⠀
🔹 2. Persistent White Patch
➟ A white patch that does not rub or scrape away may need evaluation.
➟ Some white patches are harmless, but others can contain abnormal cells.
➟ Persistent patches should be examined by a dentist or doctor.
⠀
🔹 3. Red or Red-White Patch
➟ Persistent red or mixed red-and-white areas can be important warning signs.
➟ These changes may occur on the tongue, gums, cheeks, or other mouth tissues.
➟ Red patches in particular deserve prompt assessment.
⠀
🔹 4. Mouth or Neck Lump
➟ A persistent lump, thickened area, or swelling in the mouth or neck should be evaluated.
➟ Enlarged lymph nodes in the neck can occur for many reasons, including infection.
➟ A lump that does not settle within a few weeks needs professional assessment.
⠀
🔹 5. Unexplained Oral Bleeding
➟ A mouth lesion may sometimes bleed without an obvious injury.
➟ Repeated or unexplained bleeding should not be ignored.
➟ Gum disease is a common cause of bleeding, but persistent unexplained bleeding needs evaluation.
⠀
🔹 6. Persistent Mouth Pain
➟ Ongoing pain, soreness, or burning may occasionally be a warning sign.
➟ Pain may affect the tongue, jaw, throat, or other areas of the mouth.
➟ Persistent pain without a clear cause should be investigated.
⠀
🔹 7. Difficulty Chewing or Swallowing
➟ Some people may feel that chewing or swallowing has become uncomfortable or difficult.
➟ There may also be a feeling that something is stuck in the throat.
➟ Persistent swallowing difficulty should be medically assessed.
⠀
🔹 8. Numbness of the Lip or Tongue
➟ Persistent numbness, tingling, or reduced sensation can sometimes occur if nearby nerves are affected.
➟ It may involve the lip, tongue, chin, or another part of the mouth.
➟ New unexplained numbness should be checked promptly.
⠀
🔹 9. Unexplained Loose Tooth
➟ A permanent tooth may become loose because of gum disease, injury, or other dental problems.
➟ A tooth becoming loose without an obvious reason needs assessment.
➟ Changes in the way the teeth or dentures fit may also be important.
⠀
🔹 When to See a Dentist or Doctor
➟ Any mouth ulcer, lump, or patch lasts more than 2–3 weeks
➟ A lesion is getting larger, harder, or starts bleeding
➟ You develop persistent numbness or unexplained tooth mobility
➟ Chewing or swallowing becomes difficult
➟ You notice a persistent neck lump
➟ Symptoms are worsening or recurring
⠀
