Stanley's free shipping kicks in at $75. Their tumblers are $33–$50.
So most shoppers add one tumbler... and land short of free shipping. Every single time.
Right now the cart drawer tries to close that gap by suggesting another full-price tumbler.
Plot twist — that's not necessarily the wrong upsell. It's a real bet on a real audience:
— The "shared purchase" crowd → couples, gift buyers, families who want a matching pair
— The "complete kit" crowd → solo shoppers who'd rather round up with accessories (lid, straws, boot)
Both audiences exist. Which one is bigger? That's the question A/B testing was made for.
If we were on Stanley's team, here's the A/B test we'd run:
— Control: today's full-price tumbler upsell
— Variant: a curated 3-item accessories bundle, sized to land just under the free shipping gap
— One-tap "Add all · unlock free shipping" button
— Auto-hides when the cart already qualifies or is empty
Then let traffic vote.

"We experiment on human beings"
In 2014, a dating app co-founder published a blog post that sent chilling waves through the A/B testing community.
Here's a breakdown:
Preferred Hotels hides their best loyalty hook until checkout.
Marriott shows you the member rate right on the page. Hilton does it. Hyatt does it.
Preferred? You have to click into the booking flow to see what you'd save by joining.
So here's the test we'd run if we were on their team:
— Public rate, struck through
— I Prefer member rate as the primary
— "Save $X as member" pill right underneath
— One-field join modal, inline next to the price
We built the whole variant in MidaGX in under five minutes — and as of this week, MidaGX is free to try without an account.

Knock yourself out.
High-ticket buyers don't just add to cart.
This week we looked at Andertons, one of the UK's most loved guitar retailers, and found one thing on their product page quietly losing high-intent customers.
A try-before-you-buy option that existed — but what if it was more obvious? Check it out.
New experiment every Friday — follow to stay ahead. 🔁
Shoppers don't abandon because they don't want the product.
They abandon because something made them hesitate.
This week we looked at Fipper — Malaysia's original flip-flop brand — and found three things on their product page quietly costing them sales.
Mumu Living is Malaysia's first online furniture store. Great products — but on their product pages, there's potential to organise key info like stock, delivery, warranty and payment options for less friction.
