100% Real Food Multi Vitamin-Mineral
Ultragard Fort
- the Combination of Phytocology and FoodState Technology.

Ultragard Forte is considered to be the ultimate daily supplement available in the world. This highly advanced supplement combines both the Food State and phytocology technologies in a single, powerful product.

Ultragard Forte is a complete supplement providing the dosage of vitamins and minerals required by the body on a daily basis, ensuring that the body gets an optimum amount of nutrients in a form as close to nature as possible.

The three main functions of Ultragard Forte are:
1. Protection - providing advanced nutrition to protect the body from the threat of disease.
2. Maintenance - to ensure effective maintenance of health.
3. Energy - to provide the body with nutrients that enable us to enjoy boundless energy.

The threat of illness is a reality for everyone. Chronic lifestyle related diseases have become the largest causes of death in our modern world. Research, however, has demonstrated that nutrition plays a critical role in protection against disease.
However, people do not obtain sufficient quantities of essential nutrients from food. Soils have become depleted of essential nutrients; the nutrient value of food has been eroded through modern processing, transportation and preservatives. These factors, combined with poor food choices and imbalanced diets, contribute to an inadequate intake of vital nutrients. Nutritional supplementation is, therefore, essential in the modern world.

All Things Citrus This Winter Season

This winter, welcome nature’s fruity and colourful delights, with the season’s best citrus fruits!

First Things First

The intensely juicy, fragrant, tangy and sharp flavoured citrus fruits are a crucial part of our winter palate. From being the infinitely loved king of winter fruits (orange), to being the latest super food (grapefruit), these gorgeous citric bombs are surely one of the best fruits known to mankind. The acidity in the fruit, gives it a sharp flavour, making it a genius ingredient for various culinary escapades.

The colour of the citrus fruit depends on the climatic conditions – at the time of summer in the tropical regions, the citrus fruits are either green or greenish-orange till the time they’re fully ripe. Not just a pretty thing, these sweet and sour fruits are also an excellent source of Vitamin C, and helps in detoxification of the body. Here’s a guide to the season’s juiciest citrus fruits that you need to start downing already.

Orange
Orange is the most common and loved fruit in the world. Sweet and sour, orange proves to be a perfect on-the-go snack, brimming with a heavy dose of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Avoid purchasing them during summers as you’ll only find unripen greenish ones (not half as juicy as the seasonal ones). Orange is also extensively used in winter menus across the world; from the classic upside down orange cake to the Christmassy combination of dark chocolate-orange, we seriously have a million reasons to love this fruit.

Grapefruit
The beautifully pink grapefruit is a bittersweet citrus fruit. From adding it to your winter salads and desserts to eating it plain for breakfast- this wonder fruit is superbly juicy, versatile and healthy. As the saying goes “a grapefruit a day, keeps cellulite away”, eating grapefruit might just be the healthiest way to start your day.

Limes & Lemons
You know you’re in a country where limes are grown in abundance, when nimbu pani (lime and water), becomes a standard beverage you encounter wherever you go! Though often used interchangeably, limes are not lemons, and lemons are not limes. This sour green fruit, which is commonly used in cooking, making beverages and as a naturally available astringent, is very low in cholesterol, saturated fat and sodium. Look out for limes that are aromatic and have a tight and waxy skin. Some of the Indian limes include the rather sweet and fragrant kargzi limes, and the thick, bumpy skinned and aromatic Bengali Gondhoraj lebu (used extensively in Bengali cuisine and kitchen).

On the other hand, lemons are less sour and juicier than limes. They’re bright yellow in colour, and just like limes, they are known to be a great source of vitamin C and limonoids (citrus components that are proven to fight several types of cancers). Meyer lemons are the sweeter variety of lemons often used in baking and for making other desserts.

Citron
A lesser-known fruit of the citrus family, citron hails from southern India. This fruit is a hybrid between sweet orange and lemon, and is also known as kaffir lime. Citron has a rough, dark green outer layer and is less acidic than lemon with a pleasant odour and flavour.

10 Health Benefits of Strawberries

1. Helps burn stored fat
The red coloring contains anthocyanins, which stimulate the burning of stored fat. When a group of animals was fed a high-fat diet along with anthocyanins, they gained 24 percent less weight than the animals eating the high-fat diet without added anthocyanins. (The Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry)

2. Boost short term memory
The anthocyanins boost short term memory by 100 percent in eight weeks. (The Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry)

3. Low in Calories – High in Fiber
One cup contains only 54 calories.

4. Ease Inflammation
Strawberries lower blood levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), a signal of inflammation in the body. In a study, women who ate 16 or more strawberries per week were 14 percent less likely to have elevated levels of CRP. (Harvard School of Public Health.)

5. Lower cardiovascular disease
Flavonoids — which are responsible for the colour and flavour of strawberries — lower the risk for heart disease.

6. Promote bone health
Strawberries contain potassium, vitamin K and magnesium which are important for bone health.

7. Prevent oesophageal cancer
Studies show freeze-dried strawberry powder may help prevent human oesophageal cancer.

8. Anti-aging properties
Strawberries are filled with biotin, which helps build strong hair and nails. They also contain the antioxidant ellagic acid, which protects the elastic fibers in our skin to prevent sagging.

9. Good for weight loss
The compound nitrate found promotes blood flow and oxygen in our body, which is great for weight loss.

10. Promote eye health
Eating three or more servings of fruit like strawberries may lower the risk of macular degeneration, a condition resulting in vision loss. (Archives of Ophthalmology)

Why is fibre important?
Fibre is an important part of a healthy balanced diet. It can help prevent heart disease, diabetes, weight gain and some cancers, and can also improve digestive health.
However, many people don't get enough fibre. On average, most people in the UK get about 18g of fibre a day. You should aim for at least 30g a day.
For children it is recommended the average amount of dietary fibre per day should be:
2-5-year-olds: about 15g
5-11-year-olds: about 20g
11-16-year-olds: about 25g
16-18-year-olds: about 30g
Fibre is only found in foods that come from plants. Foods such as meat, fish and dairy products don't contain any fibre.
There are two different types of fibre – soluble and insoluble. Each type of fibre helps your body in different ways, so a normal healthy diet should include both types. Eating wholegrain cereals and plenty of fruit and vegetables helps to ensure both adults and children are eating enough fibre.
However, if you have a digestive disorder such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), you may need to modify the type and amount of fibre in your diet in accordance with your symptoms. Your GP or a dietitian can advise you further about this.
Soluble fibre

Soluble fibre dissolves in the water in your digestive system. It may help to reduce the amount of cholesterol in your blood. If you have constipation, gradually increasing sources of soluble fibre – such as fruit and vegetables, oats and golden linseeds – can help soften your stools and make them easier to pass.
Foods that contain soluble fibre include:
oats, barley and rye
fruit, such as bananas and apples
root vegetables, such as carrots and potatoes
golden linseeds
Insoluble fibre

Insoluble fibre doesn't dissolve in water. It passes through your gut without being broken down and helps other foods move through your digestive system more easily. Insoluble fibre keeps your bowels healthy and helps prevent digestive problems. If you have diarrhoea, you should limit the amount of insoluble fibre in your diet.
Good sources of insoluble fibre include:
wholemeal bread
bran
cereals
nuts and seeds (except golden linseeds)
Eating foods high in fibre will help you feel fuller for longer. This may help if you are trying to lose weight. See the weight loss guide for more.
If you need to increase your fibre intake, it's important that you do so gradually. A sudden increase may make you produce more wind (flatulence), leave you feeling bloated, and cause stomach cramps.
It's also important to make sure you drink plenty of fluid. You should drink approximately 1.2 litres (six to eight glasses) of fluid a day, or more while exercising or when it's hot.
