𝗣𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗿: 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻

Annique Theron was ’n Suid-Afrikaanse sakevrou wat suksesvol was weens haar velsorgreeks met rooibos as hoofbestanddeel.

Anna Elizabeth Theron (née Heystek) is op 18 April 1929 gebore en is op 21-jarige ouderdom met Hendrik Meiring Theron getroud. Hoewel sy haar as ’n onderwyseres bekwaam het, het sy die begeerte gehad om ’n sakevrou te word, hoewel vroulike entrepreneurs skaars was.

Haar jongste dogter, Lorinda, wat in 1967 gebore is, was ’n koliekbaba wat gereeld siek was en wie se toestand weens allergieë verswak het. In April 1968, toe Lorinda veertien maande oud was, het Annique (wat toe nog as Annekie bekend gestaan het), haar melk met rooibostee verwarm, met die gevolg dat Lorinda se toestand dadelik verbeter het. Annekie het besef dat dit haar lewenstaak was om mense van die geneeskrag van rooibos te oortuig.

Sy het aanvanklik met skeptisisme te kampe gehad, maar haar nie deur ’n gebrek aan ondersteuning en hulpbronne van stryk laat bring nie. In 1971 het sy Annekie Theron Ondernemings begin; dit is enkele jare later na Forever Young (Edms) Bpk. herdoop. Die maatskappy het velsorgprodukte met rooibosekstrak vervaardig en verkoop. Sy het die reeks Annique genoem om dit internasionaal meer toeganklik te maak. Die onderneming het in 1997 twee goue medaljes van die World Intellectual Property Organisation in Genève ontvang, en sy is aangewys as die internasionale vroulike uitvinder van die jaar.

Op 72-jarige ouderdom het sy ’n doktorsgraad in geneeskunde aan die Commonwealth Open University verwerf. In 2005 het sy ’n nuwe tuiskantoor in Irene betrek en die volgende jaar die onderneming se 35ste bestaansjaar gevier met die bekendstelling van ’n spesiale verjongingsroom. In 2009 het dr. Annique Theron, soos sy toe reeds bekendgestaan het, haar outobiografie, 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘢-𝘮𝘺 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘩𝘢𝘢𝘭 𝘷𝘢𝘯 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘪𝘣𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘦 𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘬𝘦, vrygestel.

Sy is op 22 Februarie 2016 in die ouderdom van 86 jaar oorlede.
