Dear front desk,
Healthcare can be stressful for patients, and the way we respond during difficult moments can make a lasting difference.

When concerns arise:

Stay calm

Listen without interrupting and allow the patient to fully express their concern.
Show empathy
Explain available options.
Escalate promptly
Remember, patients may not remember every detail of their visit, but they will remember how they were treated when they were worried, frustrated, or vulnerable.

Let’s continue to lead with patience, empathy, professionalism, and respect in every interaction.

Thank you for your continued commitment to excellent patient service.

Last Thursday night, I ran out of fuel on Third Mainland Bridge.
It was 11pm. My phone battery was at 2%, and I had no power bank.
I turned on my hazard lights and sat in the car, trying to think.
Cars were speeding past me. Nobody stopped. Not even one person.
Lagos at night on that bridge feels very lonely.
After about 15 minutes, I saw a vehicle slow down behind me.
It was a danfo bus, old and rough, with one dim headlight.
The driver came down. He was a big man, looked tough, wearing a dirty shirt.
At first, I was scared. But I had no choice.
He looked at my car and asked, “Fuel?”
I nodded.
He didn’t say anything else. He went back to his bus.
I thought he was leaving, but he came back with a small gallon, about two liters.
Without asking me, he poured the fuel into my car.
I started the car, and it worked.
I quickly came down and offered him ₦15,000, everything I had.
He looked at the money and shook his head.
I thought maybe he wanted more, so I told him that was all I had.
He said, “Keep am.”
I was confused. This man helped me and didn’t want anything.
I asked him why.
He took a deep breath and told me a story.
He said in 1998, he broke down on the same bridge at night.
His pregnant wife was with him. He had no phone, no money, and no fuel.
He said he sat there for almost an hour, crying and praying.
Then a man in a big car stopped. The man looked important, like someone who wouldn’t normally stop.
But he did.
He got fuel, came back, and filled his tank.
When he tried to pay him, the man refused and said only one thing:
“Pass am forward.”
Then he drove away.
For 25 years, the danfo driver remembered those words.
He was waiting for the day he could do the same for someone else.
And that night, he chose me.
He got back into his bus, nodded at me, and drove away.
I stood there, holding the ₦15,000 I couldn’t give him.
I sat in my car for a long time, thinking about that man from 1998.
who had no idea his kindness would continue for 25 years and reach me.
I don’t know the danfo driver’s name.
But somewhere in Lagos tonight, he is still driving that old bus,
with one dim headlight and a kind heart.
Pass am forward.
What are you passing forward today?
Karma is real.
One day, you will reap what you sow.

Sometimes the vision is big… but the phone is small. 😩
Guys, I think it’s finally time for me to change my phone and upgrade ASAP — 100%.
This phone has tried for me, but honestly… I’m tired.
Between creating content, writing, engaging with you all, and running my page daily — this device is fighting for its life.
One thing about growth is this:
When the vision expands, the tools must upgrade too.
So if you ever enjoy my posts, my write-ups, my videos, or the value I share here… just know that a better phone means even better content for you all.
Let’s just say…
NDIRA with a new phone will be on another level. 👀✨

💼 A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HEALTH INSURANCE / MEDICAL BILLING OFFICER

👀 “It’s Just a Desk Job”… Or Is It?
Many people think we just sit, type, and answer calls.
But a day in the life of a Health Insurance / Medical Billing Officer is far more than that.

⏰ THE DAY STARTS LIKE THIS:
✔ Checking enrollee eligibility
✔ Confirming HMO approvals
✔ Handling complaints calmly
✔ Calling HMOs for authorizations
✔ Sorting treatment codes & approvals
✔ Managing sensitive documentation
✔ Attending to frustrated patients
And this happens — all at once.

⚖️ WHAT YOU DON’T SEE
While others see “just a desk,”
we see:
• Deadlines
• Financial accuracy
• Hospital revenue targets
• Patient emotions
• System delays
• Pressure from all sides
One mistake can affect: 👉 A patient’s treatment
👉 A hospital’s payment
👉 A provider’s credibility

🤝 THE SILENT FORCE BEHIND SMOOTH HOSPITAL VISITS
Behind every seamless hospital experience is a billing officer working silently to make it happen.
We are the bridge between: Patients 🤝 HMOs 🤝 Hospitals
And we do it with professionalism.
