August 2026 really came with a lot of shege — safe to say it has been one of the hardest moments of my life. And just when I thought things were almost over, my little boy accidentally ingested a considerable amount of my wife’s medication.

My wife, who was sick, was feeling too reluctant to take her medication on Saturday, so I had to help her get the drugs. She had to take them while lying in bed.

I had bathed my boy and put water on the fire to make him some pap so he could follow me to the office for an urgent assignment.

I was taking my bath when I realized the water was already boiled, but I couldn’t come out of the bathroom at that moment. So I called my wife to please assist with the pap. That’s how she kept the drugs aside and rushed to make the pap.

I finished taking my bath and entered the bedroom, only to see my son with the drug container almost empty. His lips and hands were red, and some of the tablets were scattered on the floor.

I quickly collected the container from him and drew my wife’s attention to what had happened. We cleaned him up and washed his hands, even though he wasn’t ready to let go of the container. At first, we thought he had only licked some of the tablets, but we later discovered that he had actually swallowed a considerable number of them.

We eventually got to the office, and unlike his usual self, he was now giving everybody attitude. He wouldn’t go into anybody’s arms, and he wouldn’t even let me do anything. Even when he slept off, he still wouldn’t let me lay him down.

He was crying all over the place and looked unusually weak.

I had to call his mother to come over and pick him up so I could attend to the urgent work I had to do. She came, but he kept refusing to go with her. She eventually had to take him away because I had to work. She also noticed that he was unusually weak, but we still thought perhaps he was simply tired or sleepy.

They got home, and my wife called to tell me that he was vomiting a good number of the tablets. I told her to give him water, but he refused to drink and wouldn’t stop stooling.

We rushed him to the Children’s Emergency Ward at UATH. At this point, he was still stooling repeatedly. We were changing his diaper several times within less than 30 minutes.

All the while, he wasn’t urinating — he was just passing stool.

He continued vomiting, and the medical team had to insert a tube through his nose to his stomach and also insert a urinary catheter to monitor his urine output closely.

From what the doctors explained to us, the amount of iron he may have swallowed was significant enough to cause serious poisoning, which is why getting him to the hospital quickly was so important. An X-ray was also conducted to be sure there were no more tablets left in him.

Looking back, we could easily have mistaken his weakness and sleepiness for ordinary tiredness if he hadn’t started vomiting.

By God’s grace, after two days in the hospital, he survived it, and we’re finally back home.

Please, when you see “KEEP ALL MEDICINES OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN” written on medication, understand that it is NOT there for decoration.

It is a very serious warning.

A small child can swallow tablets within seconds, and what looks like “just a few drugs” can become a medical emergency.

Please keep medicines:

* Out of children’s sight and reach.
* In their original containers.
* Properly closed after every use.
* Away from bedsides, tables, handbags and other places children can access.

And if a child ever swallows medicine accidentally, don’t wait for symptoms to appear before seeking medical help.

We were fortunate to recognize what had happened and get him to the hospital.

Please learn from our experience. Keep all medicines away from children.

Muscle cramps are one of those things you don't understand until you experience one.

Mine started during pregnancy and that was when I realized that stretching could actually become my enemy. Anytime I wanted to stretch, I would remember the pain and just leave my body as it was.

I’ve given birth now, but this thing still visits me randomly. This is the 2nd or 3rd time it has happened since childbirth, and this last one came for me in my sleep!

I screamed so hard that my husband had to wake up, massage the area and hold it down until the pain eased.

Honestly, what exactly causes these cramps? And why do they have to be THIS painful?

I might be very strict about this, but I honestly don’t like children watching TikTok over their parents’ shoulders.

Some of the things people say and post on TikTok are NOT child-friendly at all. You can be watching one harmless video and the next one is somebody saying something extremely nasty or discussing things meant strictly for adults.

The children around me already know my rule , If I’m on my phone, don’t come and stand behind or beside me trying to see what I’m watching. I will quickly turn my screen away because you’re not supposed to see everything adults watch.

We need to stop normalising exposing children to adult conversations, jokes and content just because they happen to be around us.

Let children be children. Their innocence is precious, and protecting it starts with the little things we do every day.
