Anonymous: Good morning doc, please at what point is Metformin no longer considered a safe option for diabetes management, especially in relation to kidney function?

Myself: Good morning sir/ma. Metformin is NEVER considered a SAFE OPTION at any point in time before. Metformin is excreted in urine and not metabolised or stored in the body. Since the kidneys do not effectively filter blood, Metformin accumulates in the bloodstream, leading to "ketoacidosis", which can be lethal if left untreated.

Lowering the dose of Metformin alone is insufficient for achieving its intended treatment goal. That is why elderly individuals (over 80) are not prescribed Metformin to avoid complications related to impaired kidney function. Instead, they are given insulin to help reduce blood glucose levels though THE BEST YOU CAN IS TO GET TREATED HERBALLY WITH THOSE THAT ARE WELL VERSED IN THE HERBAL MEDICINE.
