We sat with some of the women leaders in our various communities to discuss the future of women and children through active participation and community ownership.
We got amazing insights from the women and why there is increase maternal and neonatal mortalities in their communities as well as their suggestions and lives experiences.
When women leaders are involved and part of community care, project becomes easier and community thrive better .
To achieve health for all , stronger collaborations with communities and its leaders are a key part of the process and we aren’t excluding that .

1,300 women in our whatsapp community Empowered on the knowledge gap on Rhesus Incompatibility and isso-immunization . Communicated , taught and broken down in simpler , easier and less complicated language.
Our webinar few weeks ago tells us that we overthink women having it all figured out or has all the knowledge and information when indeed there is a gap in understanding and how the knowledge is used.
Rhesus disease is a silent condition which most couples , families and individuals don’t pay attention to .
On teaching this topic , we realised women have seen the effect of rhesus within their surrounding from pregnancy losses , severe jaundice etc but never knew what it was called or the action to take .
This reinforce our commitment on “ leaving no woman behind “ either from our physical communities or even the virtual community .
We are indeed committed to Health for all campaign to ensure every woman is advocated for , seen , heard and understand their pregnancy and motherhood journey .

*RHESUS DISEASE: THE SILENT THREAT TO MOTHERS & BABIES*
Here are 10 facts I bet you don’t know about rhesus disease.
1. Rhesus disease is one of the leading cause of miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal deaths in Nigeria and across Africa.
2. 1 in 10 women in Nigeria are Rh-negative, yet over 80% do not know their Rhesus status.
3. Without early intervention, Rh disease can lead to severe anemia, brain damage, or hydrops in the unborn baby.
4. Rhesus disease is a threat to women and children but women and the society don’t see it as such .
5. Neonatal jaundice and kernicterus from Rh disease account for thousands of preventable newborn deaths yearly.
6. 1 injection — the Anti-D immunoglobulin within 72 hours — can prevent Rh disease in 99% of cases.
7. Early awareness saves lives like this webinar : Knowing your Rhesus status at first ANC visit is the first step, ask and keep the result safe for future reference , also know your blood group off hand .
8. myths and silence keeps women from testing until it’s too late.
9. Testing is simple, affordable, and routine — yet it’s missing in many primary health centers.
10. LOK NATAL CARE is committed to Scale testing + education + access to Anti-D through our partnership with our partners equating to Fewer losses, more healthy babies.
Today by 3pm we go live to create awareness to over 1000 women in our community on rhesus disease, its effect and solutions as well as offer support.

This month , we took a step further to ensure No woman is truly left behind doing our work with our amazing partners.
Women truly shouldn’t have to choose between their health and livelihood.
One of our key strategy for our Maami project is meeting women where they are especially pregnant women and Nursing mothers because we understand what it truly means to be supported when needed the most and in the most unconventional way!
Meeting women where they are ! Education sticks faster , awareness spread like wide fire in market place.
That’s our promise with the Maami project ! Ensure no woman is left behind and every woman gets the care , information , knowledge they need to have a seamless pregnancy and less complicated motherhood .
Market campaign ! Nothing beats it .
At the end of the day , maternal health is a collective effort .
This woman in slide two later became part of us at LOK NATAL CARE . She loved us when she saw us right in the market and ready to take up the mantle to serve other women as well ! A story for another day ❤️

It takes 2 dollars for a woman to get screened for urine testing against pre-eclampsia , Using our Maami project , we have screened over 4700 women for FREE.
It means we have saved women from spending 9400 dollars on screening over the last 2-3years.
It started with just less than 50 women , now over 4500
We have captured over 700 women early during our screening who are at risk accounting for 15% risk detection, prevention and treatment.
This is what true support looks like, leaving no woman behind to achieve equality and health for all.
This is what midwifery led care looks like right from the community .
We are not stopping , because our method works .
Join us to screen more women by donating materials , partnering with us or donate funds to continue our work.

We have screened over 4700 women over 2-3 years
During one of our community Outreach and intervention with our women, We observed a woman with swollen feet and protein plus in her urine.
She wasn’t bothered because no one told her it was a danger sign .
She only knew that her feets becomes big and she raises it .
This was a danger sign and if she’s not monitored properly she can extend to eclampsia with time which is dangerous for the baby and herself.
Now the question is what should you look out for as a woman and couple when you notice any swollen feet ?
Early detection =close monitoring =early treatment =safe mother and baby.
At LOK NATAL CARE our mission is simple, to have a community where every woman is knowledge empowered and no woman dies of pregnancy complications.
Grateful to funding in May from our financial partner Kafayat Popoola of pregnancy and beyond for our screening and testing, We couldn’t have done much , but with funding we got resources needed.
Join us in awareness , join us in screening more women for Pregnancy induced Hypertention in our communities.
We have screened 4700 women over 3 years from late 2023 till now , we want to do more. Join us .
