The Three Pillars rooted in Jesus' teachings in Matthew 6:1-18 and emphasized by the Church.
Prayer: Deepening our relationship with God. Prayer opens our hearts to God's will, strengthens us against temptation, and helps us reflect on Scripture. It's the foundation that gives meaning to fasting and almsgiving.

Fasting ; Self-denial and discipline.
Significance: Beyond obligatory fasting/abstinence (Ash Wednesday & Good Friday: one full meal; Fridays: no meat), personal fasting frees us from attachments, fosters dependence on God, and unites us with Christ's suffering. It combats selfishness and builds spiritual strength.

Almsgiving (Charity); Generosity toward others.
Significance: As a "witness to fraternal charity" and "work of justice pleasing to God'' it turns our sacrifices into love for neighbor. It includes donating, volunteering, forgiving, or performing works of mercy,showing God's mercy in action.

Key Activities During Lent:

Attend daily Mass or Stations of the Cross (especially Fridays).
Read Scripture daily (follow the Mass readings).

Make a good Confession and receive Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Pray the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, or spend time in adoration.

Practice personal sacrifices.

Perform corporal/spiritual works of mercy (feed the hungry, clothes the nake d, shelter the homeless, comfort the downtrodden,visit the sick,visit the imprisoned and pray for the dead).

Join parish retreats, Bible studies, or Lenten devotions.
