If you have nasal congestion and is looking for natural herbs/remedies that may help relieve it. There are several herbs that can help provide symptom relief rather.

🌿 Options to consider
Ginger — Ginger tea may help soothe inflammation and provide hydration, which can make mucus easier to clear.
Peppermint — Its menthol content can create a cooling sensation that makes breathing feel easier. Peppermint tea is a safer option than putting concentrated peppermint oil inside the nose.

Eucalyptus — Eucalyptus vapour may temporarily help with the sensation of congestion. Do not swallow eucalyptus oil or put it directly inside your nostrils.

Turmeric — Contains curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric tea or adding turmeric to food is reasonable, although evidence specifically for nasal congestion is limited.

Thyme — Traditionally used for respiratory symptoms and can be taken as a tea. Evidence for nasal congestion specifically is limited.

Garlic — Has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory compounds, but evidence that eating garlic directly relieves nasal congestion is weak.

💧 Often more effective than herbs
For a blocked nose, saline nasal irrigation or saline spray can be very effective because it physically washes out mucus, allergens and irritants. If making a saline rinse yourself, use distilled/sterile water or water that has been boiled and cooled—not ordinary untreated tap water.

A warm shower, adequate fluids, and sleeping with your head slightly elevated can also help.
Avoid putting herbal oils, garlic juice, raw ginger, or other concentrated substances directly into your nostrils, as they can irritate or damage the nasal lining.

If your congestion lasts more than about 10 days, keeps returning, is accompanied by high fever/severe facial pain, or you have difficulty breathing, it is worth getting medical advice.

EU, WFP and GIZ Launch €14 Million Livelihoods Programme in Uganda

The European Union (EU), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have introduced a €14 million initiative designed to promote sustainable livelihoods among refugees and host communities in Uganda’s West Nile sub-region.

The three-year Energy and Self-Reliance Programme is expected to reach more than 33,000 people across five refugee-hosting districts. Refugees will make up approximately 70 percent of beneficiaries, while members of host communities will account for the remaining 30 percent. Women and girls are projected to represent about 65 percent of participants.

The initiative is jointly funded by the European Union and the governments of Germany and Ireland. Its primary objective is to help vulnerable families transition from reliance on humanitarian assistance towards greater self-sufficiency. This will be achieved through financial assistance, vocational skills development, and improved access to clean and affordable energy.

The programme comes at a time when humanitarian funding has declined significantly. Following a prioritisation exercise conducted in May 2025, food assistance was stopped for approximately one million refugees, while another 784,000 people experienced reductions in their food rations.

The resulting pressure on vulnerable households has contributed to worsening food insecurity and malnutrition. Reports indicate that around 920,000 refugees are now facing crisis-level hunger or more severe food insecurity, while cases of acute malnutrition have risen by 82 percent.

WFP will collaborate with Uganda’s Office of the Prime Minister to implement the programme’s self-reliance component. Planned interventions include cash-based safety nets, financial literacy programmes, and support designed to help households invest in income-generating activities.

GIZ will oversee the energy component in partnership with Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development. The organisation will focus on expanding access to renewable-energy and energy-efficient technologies that can strengthen businesses and stimulate local economic activity.

Beneficiaries will gain access to energy solutions that can improve their ability to process, preserve, store, and transport products while connecting them to local and regional markets. Digital technologies, business-development support, and vocational training will further help participants transform renewable-energy resources into viable and sustainable enterprises.

Vocational training will cover a range of income-generating skills, including tailoring, welding, and information and communications technology (ICT). By combining clean-energy access with financial services and practical skills, the programme aims to open up new economic opportunities for both refugees and host communities.

The initiative also aligns with Uganda’s Fourth National Development Plan (2025–2030). By strengthening economic resilience and expanding sustainable livelihood opportunities, the programme seeks to enable refugees and host communities in the West Nile region to participate more actively in local economic development.

Hey, let’s talk about something that can really make a difference in your workday and your life overall — eating healthy while at work. I know, it’s easy to grab that quick snack or settle for something convenient, but making mindful choices about what you eat can actually be a game-changer.
Think about it: the food you put into your body fuels everything you do. When you choose healthy options, you’re giving yourself the energy and focus you need to crush your tasks, meet deadlines, and stay engaged. It’s about more than just looking good — it’s about feeling good from the inside out. Healthy food helps stabilize your blood sugar, so you don’t get those annoying crashes that leave you feeling sluggish and irritable. Instead, you stay alert, motivated, and ready to tackle whatever comes your way.
And let’s be real — work can sometimes be stressful. When that happens, nourishing your body with good food can be a powerful tool to keep stress levels down. Nutrient-rich meals support your immune system, so you’re less likely to get sick and miss out on important days. Plus, they boost your mood, making it easier to handle tough situations with a positive attitude.
Eating healthy at work isn’t just about avoiding junk food; it’s about making a commitment to yourself. It’s about recognizing that your health and well-being are worth investing in. Every good choice you make adds up. Whether it’s packing a colorful salad, snacking on nuts and fruit, or swapping out soda for water, these small steps can lead to big results.
Remember, you’re in charge of your health. You have the power to choose foods that energize you rather than drain you. It might take a little planning and effort, but the payoff is huge. More energy, sharper focus, better mood, and a stronger immune system — all essential for not just surviving your workday but thriving through it.
So, next time you’re reaching for that snack, ask yourself: “Is this going to fuel me or drain me?” Make the choice that sets you up for success. Because when you take care of your body, you’re also taking care of your future. Stay motivated, stay healthy, and watch how your work and life improve because of it. You got this!
