Among many things my skincare journey has taught me is that I shouldn’t be jumping into conclusions about a product too quickly. Below are some of the mistakes that I have made and learned the hard way to go about differently:
- trends are good marketing schemes, but may be quite the opposite to what your skin agrees with,
- just because something is a cult classic, it may be your worst nightmare,
- dehydrated and sensitized skin is a “special” one,
- layering skincare over a week is better than doing it in one go,
- not everyone likes retinol, not all skin types thrive on retinol,
- choose your vitamins wisely,
- hydration and SPF are the only things that even the toughest of pimples respond to well,
- exfoliation shouldn’t be a ritual, it should be a treat, your skin is happy with the everyday friction of a cleanser on a cotton round,
- massage never gets old,
- ice and cold are good for inflammation or to revive tired skin,
- natural is great but help from the science department is more efficient,
- learn to read your skin every day, you will benefit greatly from listening to its needs.

What many layers do you find the most tolerable?

I sometimes feel overwhelmed when going on holiday, knowing I can only bring a limited amount of skincare as I can’t compromise on the survival basics (insect pre and after bite), medicine for small and big, thermometer, band aids, disinfectant for scrapes and scratches, etc). Yet, it’s a struggle, especially if going into different climates in one trip. My skin is just generally parched from the flight, car ride, being tired and dehydrated.

My solution is to layer it as you would with your clothes. I bring an essential super hydrator, a night recovery mask, an eye cream, a mask to pamper, a cleansing balm and of course high SPF. All this with products that have withstood the rest of time and are fail proof.

I have been meaning to dedicate a post to my favorite facial oils, for me this is the epitome of self-care at home. Affordable, luxurious, a sensory trip to my imaginary SPA, and the perfect solution to switching up your daytime-nighttime routine.

Did you know that a lot of makeup artists use facial oils under foundation to achieve that dewy glow? There are dry oil formulas that offer hydration and boost that are designed to wear during the day.

This historical skincare brand (est. 1927) that was considered revolutionary and pioneer of its era, stands close to my heart. I still regard as a Hungarian 🇭🇺 brand, mainly because aesthetic skincare has a deeply embedded tradition in Hungarian culture.
Dr. László introduced soap and water as a cleanser as opposed to cold creams of the time. He was the first one to:

- Create personalized skincare rituals;
- Develop skincare programs for teens;

This could be a brand appreciation post but I decided that I might as well turn it into a motivation post.

I have loved from the beginning for the fact that their makeup and skincare line has been fun, playful, functional, the quality continuously improving, the products are trendy and interesting and their packaging is just on par with the rest. What I noticed is that they never grow tired, complacent , get dull or boring.

These are the values that I set for myself as a person. I want to continually challenge myself, grow but stay fun and not to take life too seriously. As the great Broadway theme song for Bob Fosse once sang it: “Life is just a bowl of cherries, don’t take it serious, life’s too mysterious.” 🍒

I hope everyone is having a great summer and we all get to take some well-deserved holidays. The sun can make such a difference in one’s mood and motivation, and it’s essential to produce the Ds (💊).

I haven’t been too cautious, was too happy to get to the pool and I got a bit of a sunburn. Oh, well live and learn right? Never🙄😀.

So for those who are careful and consistent but like their inner bronzed gods and goddesses, you can find some beautiful bronzers and self-tanners out there, such as this gorgeous iconic .beauty Les Beiges 390 Soleil Tan Bronze Universel.

I love the scent of sunscreen, that on its own is already a holiday for me even if it’s just on a terrace or balcony. I used to buy fragrance for the summer that reminded me of that.
