A very overdue post from back in May!
I’ve been so busy photographing families, babies and couples that I haven’t had much time to sit down and share all the sessions here. So, better late than never.
This is Luwan, celebrating his first birthday with a teddy bear themed cake smash. There were curious looks, sticky fingers, plenty of cake and lots of personality. Pretty much exactly what you want from a first birthday cake smash.
It was such a fun session for this sweet baby boy and I’m finally getting around to sharing some of my favourite photos.
If you’re planning a cake smash at your home in Woerden, Utrecht or anywhere in the Netherlands, take the pressure off. Your little one doesn’t need to perform or sit perfectly still. Real life is allowed here and I’ll guide you through it.
Sometimes the best photos happen when you stop trying to make everything perfect.
For this birthday shoot, there was no pressure to sit still or pose nicely.
Instead, there were chicken balloons, running up a hill, dancing on a picnic table and plenty of room to just be herself.
And somewhere in between all that chaos and fun we created these.
This is exactly why I love photographing children as they are.
Because one day, these photos won’t just remind you what she looked like at this age. They’ll remind you who she was.
Birthday photoshoot in Woerden, Utrecht.

Picture exchanging vows somewhere high in the Swiss Alps, surrounded by dramatic mountain views, fresh air and the person you love most.
You don’t need a huge wedding to make it unforgettable.
If you’ve been dreaming about an intimate mountain elopement, Switzerland might be exactly what you’re looking for.

I don't think I'll ever get used to people who keep coming back to me for their yearly photoshoots. Out of all the photographers they could choose, they choose me again and again, and it is always such a huge compliment.
I spent a morning with the Cilliers family at Katwijk aan Zee, flying kites, laughing, chasing the kids around and just having fun. Their son absolutely loved the kite and was having such a great time that I just couldn't take it away from him. He got to keep it and played with it the whole day wherever they went.
Their little girl took a little while to warm up, which is completely normal, and by the end of the session she was happy to explore and show more of her little personality.
That's the thing about family photoshoots. Kids don't need to perform or smile on command. I'd much rather capture your family as you are, in whichever stage of life your kids are in, because those are the photos that will mean the most years from now.
The stages that you might not think are that special right now are often the ones you will want to remember one day.
If you're looking for a relaxed family photographer for a beach photoshoot in Katwijk aan Zee, Woerden, Utrecht or anywhere else in the Netherlands, I'd love to tell your family's story!

Chenel and Eugene came all the way from South Africa and were spending a few days in the Netherlands during their Europe trip. While planning their holiday, they decided to book a couples photoshoot in Amsterdam so they could have some photos of the two of them together, instead of only having selfies or asking random strangers to take photos for them.
For an hour, I got to follow them around Amsterdam and just capture them as they are. We did a little bit of posing, a little bit of playing, a little bit of dancing and a whole lot of laughing.
The best part of these sessions is that it doesn’t feel like a photoshoot the whole time. It feels more like spending time with people, walking around, chatting, and capturing the little moments that happen along the way.
By the end of the session, it honestly felt like we had known each other for much longer. It felt like catching up with old friends, and that is what made this session so special.
I love that they will now have these photos to remember their time in Amsterdam, not just the places they visited, but the way they felt while they were there.
