The Wheel of Life (Bhavachakra) is a powerful Buddhist symbol that illustrates the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth (samsara).
The Wheel of Life shows how beings remain trapped in samsara through ignorance, craving, and attachment.
At its center are the three poisons: a pig (ignorance), a rooster (desire), and a snake (hatred).
These three poisons drive all suffering and keep the cycle turning.
The wheel contains six realms of existence, including gods, humans, animals, hungry ghosts, jealous gods, and hell beings.
Each realm represents different states of existence and mental conditions.
The outer ring depicts the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination, showing how suffering arises.
The entire wheel is held by Yama, the Lord of Death, symbolizing impermanence.
Outside the wheel, the Buddha points toward liberation, showing that freedom from suffering is possible.
The wheel teaches that actions (karma) have consequences and shape future experiences.
By developing wisdom, ethical conduct, and meditation, one can break free from the cycle.
The Wheel of Life is not merely a picture of rebirth but also a map of the mind.
Its ultimate message is that enlightenment leads beyond the endless cycle of suffering to Nirvana, the state of true peace.

Mudra of Meditation (dhyana) is made by placing both hands on the lap, right hand on the left, with the palms facing upwards, the tips of the thumbs touching, and the fingers fully stretched. This mudra helps to calm the mind for meditation and is used for deep contemplation and reflection. The mudra of meditation is a characteristic gesture of the Buddha Shakyamuni.
