😓 I don’t often share the hard stuff on here but here goes…

Over the past almost 2 weeks, I’ve been navigating a shoulder injury that has turned out to be more significant than I first hoped. I’ve needed to take time away from the salon and will be returning on reduced hours and reduced ability.

This has been incredibly hard to accept and come to terms with. More than anything it’s devastating feeling like I’m letting my clients down. 😔

No one really talks about how, as a small business owner, an injury can feel like failure.

I think what has made this even harder is the timing. This past year has been such a huge year for Serenya. I’ve poured my heart and soul into building a salon that reflects who I am, the experience I want to create, and the level of care I want every client to receive. Things have been going so well, and that momentum has made this unexpected pause feel even more emotional.

But I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to find the best way forward. 🤨My goal is to bring someone into the salon temporarily to help with the physical side of appointments while I continue to consult, oversee your services, and ensure the experience and standards you know and trust are maintained.

🙏 I want to thank my clients who have already been affected for your patience and understanding. To all my clients, please know I am doing everything I can to minimise disruption and also give myself the best chance of a full recovery. ❤️‍🩹

I also want to thank my husband Chris, for listening to my frustrations, encouraging me on the hard days, reminding me to slow down when I want to push through and for supporting me through the emotional rollercoaster that comes with all of this (also for driving me around to my appointments!) 😘

I can’t wait to be fully back doing what I love with an even greater appreciation for a body that allows me to do it! 💪

For decades we’ve been told that once women reach a certain age, they should cut their hair short.✂️

The truth? There isn’t an age where long hair suddenly stops working.

As a hairstylist, I don’t recommend a haircut based on someone’s age. I look at what suits them - their hair density, texture, condition, face shape etc and most importantly -what makes them feel confident. ✨

For some people, a shorter style is absolutely the right choice. For others, keeping their length is.

There isn’t a universal rule because every head of hair is different.

If you’re considering a big change, don’t do it because you feel like you “should.”

Do it because it’s the right choice for you.
