New wrap. Same timber. ♻️

We’re rolling out our updated packaging, designed in partnership with GoodWrap Recycling.
Made from 100% recycled plastic waste and completely recyclable, this new wrap is another way we package and protect our timber.

A small change with a positive impact: giving plastic a second life, closing the loop, and building a more circular future. We're always looking for ways to do better, and this is another step in that journey.

Perched at the southern edge of Sumner Beach, Sumner House responds to a tricky triangular site with a clever architectural twist. By slicing a single gabled form in two, RTA Studio created separate living and sleeping pavilions that step gracefully with the coastal contours. Clad in Vulcan timber.

Elevating outdoor living at Pōhuehue House.

The sheltered outdoor patio is framed by Vulcan® timber soffits, wrapping seamlessly into the exterior wall linings. The defining highlight? A striking circular roof cutout (oculus) lined with vertical timber, designed to frame the sky and bring natural light deep into the covered alfresco space.
“To keep the maintenance down, I wanted to use Abodo for exterior locations where it's quite sheltered, like on the soffits, and for the wall linings in the covered outdoor area that connects up all the indoor living spaces.” - Felicity Brenchley, Architect & Homeowner

Passive House is often discussed in theory. But what does it actually take to build one and live in it?

Join Matthew Carland, Director of Carland Constructions, for our upcoming CPD webinar, From Build to Living: A Real Passive House Journey.

Drawing on his own certified Passive House, Matthew will share practical lessons from design and construction through to performance, comfort, indoor air quality and everyday living. This is a rare opportunity to learn from someone who has experienced Passive House from both sides of the project: builder and occupant.

Amazing design work by Barry Connor Design Ltd exploring how different cabin elements can be arranged across the site at a 1:100 scale. Using mirrored and flipped study models on-site is such a brilliant way to test configurations, sightlines, and layout options in real time.

Vulcan timber is great for bringing concepts like this to life. If anyone is looking for some 2mm thick Vulcan timber sheets for a project like this, give us a message!

Architectural Series vs Standard Series - What’s the difference?

Both series deliver the same high-performance, durability, thermal modification, engineered vertical grain, and Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certification. Standard Series is offered across New Zealand and Australia alongside the Architectural Series, with your choice coming down to aesthetic character and project requirements:

Architectural Series (Select Grade):

Features a clear grade with limited natural features, ideal for projects where a largely clear, refined aesthetic is desired. Available in mixed or select lengths with brushed and bandsawn finish options.

Standard Series (Light Character Grade):

Offers a variable feature grade showcasing natural character like knots and resin pockets alongside clear lengths. Perfect for adding organic texture and natural warmth at an accessible price point.
