A little moment of gratitude after a pretty special weekend 🤎

One of the goals I had written into my business plan was to take my body composition scanning on the road — travelling from Auckland, getting back into our communities and working alongside gyms and people who want to understand more about their metabolic health.

This weekend, I actually did it. ✔️

From a home scanning session in Kerikeri, to Russell Strength, FitLab 24/7 and Whiti Te Ra Hauora Hub, the Mediana came along for the journey and I got to meet, scan and have some really good conversations with some pretty awesome people.

And if I’m being truthful, there’s always that little voice in the background asking me… Is this going to work? Are people going to be receptive? Am I doing a good job?

This weekend was a good reminder to trust the mahi.

But there was another part of the weekend that filled my cup just as much — being back home.

Seeing the water and the whenua, travelling those familiar roads, catching up with beautiful friends and their whānau, and just being back amongst people and places that mean so much to me. I didn’t realise how much I needed that until I was there.

There were definitely learnings from the weekend too. Things I’ll change, things I’ll plan better and things I’ll take into the next trip. That’s all part of building something.

And behind all of it is my whānau. My husband and our kids are always there supporting whatever Mum has decided she’s going to do next 😂 Helping, encouraging, travelling, carrying gear and just making things happen. I’m incredibly grateful for them.

So today I’m taking a moment to acknowledge this one.

First mobile body composition scanning weekend from Auckland to Northland. Done. ✔️

A little box ticked in the business plan — but actually, it meant so much more than that.

Grateful for the people, the places, the conversations, the learnings, being back home, and my whānau behind me.

Now we keep building. 🤎

First little home session of body scans in Kerikeri last night ❤️

What an awesome evening! Full house, lots of kōrero, lots of questions and some really good conversations around what’s actually happening inside our bodies — beyond just the number on the scales.

Loved being back doing this mahi and seeing everyone come through.

Thank you so much to everyone who came along ❤️

Now Russell, Waipapa and Cable Bay today! 💪🏽

COMING FOR A BODY SCAN THIS SUNDAY?

Just a little heads-up on how to prepare so we can keep everyone moving on the day 😊

For the best reading possible:
• Keep well hydrated
• Try not to eat a large meal 2–3 hours beforehand
• No exercise for at least 2 hours before
• Avoid caffeine beforehand if you can
• Pop to the bathroom before your scan
• Wear light, comfortable clothing — shoes and socks will come off for the scan

Your scan gives you a great snapshot of what’s happening beyond the scales — body fat, muscle, visceral fat, hydration and more.

Please note: Body composition scanning is not suitable if you are pregnant or have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic medical device.

$40 per scan, with your results to take away.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday!

Day 13 of recovery 🤍

Something clicked for me this morning.

I’ve realised one of the things I’ve really struggled with over the last few days is the fact that I still need medication.

In my head, I think I just wanted to be further along. I wanted to need less of it and just get back to being me.

But a beautiful friend of mine has kept checking in on me — messaging me, reminding me, and probably telling me exactly what I needed to hear 😂

The medication isn’t stopping my recovery. Right now, it’s helping my recovery.

And this morning I finally accepted that.

Funny how much lighter you can feel when you get out of your own head.

We talk so much about nutrition, movement, sleep and doing all the right things for our health. But sometimes looking after ourselves also means accepting the help we need.

And sometimes you need a good friend to remind you of that.

Can’t do everything on our own, eh. Our people matter. 🤍

Day 13. Still healing. Still moving forward.

NORTHLAND — I’M BACK WITH THE BODY SCANNER!

I’ll be back in Te Tai Tokerau on Sunday 23 August doing body composition scans at two locations — and everyone is welcome!

📍 Russell Strength
130 Florence Ave, Russell
8am–10am

📍 FitLab 24/7 Waipapa
40 Klinac Lane, Waipapa
12pm–2pm

$40 per scan

The scan itself only takes a few minutes. You’ll receive a printed report to take home, and I’ll quickly take you through some of the key markers, including:

• Body fat %
• Skeletal muscle mass
• Visceral fat
• Hydration/body water
• BMR and estimated daily energy needs
• Muscle and fat distribution

If you’ve scanned with me before, bring yourself back in! It’s a great opportunity to compare your results and see what’s changed since your last scan.

A big thank you to Tracey at Russell Strength and Eden at FitLab for opening these sessions up to the wider community. You do not need to be a gym member.

If you’d like a scan, message me with RUSSELL or WAIPAPA and your preferred time and I’ll pop you on my list.

See you Northland! ❤️

Today I’m swapping my health coach hat for a hospital gown.

Today I’m having a total hip replacement after nearly two years of living with increasing pain.

One thing this journey has reminded me is that our health can change in an instant. Sometimes we’re the ones supporting others, and sometimes we’re the ones needing support ourselves.

Recovery isn’t about perfection. It’s about patience, consistency and taking one step at a time. That’s exactly how I’ll be approaching the weeks ahead.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. I can’t wait to get back to helping others once I’m healed.

For now… it’s time to let the experts do their thing and start my own recovery journey.

A small favour to ask from those I’ve had the privilege of supporting. ❤️

Over the past few years, I’ve had the honour of walking alongside so many incredible people and whānau on their health journeys throughout Northland. Now that I’m based in Auckland, I’m excited to continue growing Mor Mor Lemalu Metabolic Health, while still supporting clients online across New Zealand and returning to Northland regularly for body composition scan clinics and community events.

If we’ve worked together and you’ve found value in our time together, I would be so grateful if you could write a short testimonial or reference for me.

It doesn’t need to be long. Even a few sentences would mean the world.

You might like to share:
✨ What brought you to see me.
✨ How you felt supported throughout your journey.
✨ What changes you’ve noticed in your health, confidence, knowledge or daily life.
✨ What you would say to someone considering working with me.

With your permission, I’d love to share your words on my website, www.mormorlemalu.com, and here on my page to help others who may be looking for support.

If you’d prefer to remain anonymous, that’s absolutely okay too. I can use your first name only, your initials, your town, or keep your testimonial completely anonymous. Your privacy will always be respected.

Thank you for trusting me to be part of your health journey. Every person I’ve met has taught me something, and it has truly been a privilege to support you. Your kind words will help me continue reaching more people and whānau who are looking for practical, compassionate support to improve their metabolic health.

Stress affects more than just our mind. 💚

When we’re under stress, our nervous system switches into “survival mode.”

That’s exactly what it’s designed to do.

The problem is, when stress becomes part of everyday life, our body can stay in that state for much longer than it should.

Over time, this can contribute to:
💚 More inflammation.
💚 Poor sleep.
💚 Low energy.
💚 Cravings for sugary foods.
💚 Increased storage of fat around our organs (visceral fat), which can affect our metabolic health.

Our body isn’t working against us.

It’s trying to protect us.

That’s why improving our health isn’t always about eating less or exercising more.

Sometimes the first step is helping our nervous system feel safe again.

A walk outside.
A nourishing meal.
Enough protein.
A good night’s sleep.
Time with people who fill your cup.

Small habits really do make a difference.

Your body is always communicating with you. The question is… are you listening? 💚

53 today. 💚

What a year it’s been.

Looking back, I’m just incredibly grateful. Grateful for my husband, my children, my whānau, my friends, and every person who’s trusted me to be part of their hauora journey.

This last year has stretched me in more ways than one. There have been challenges, big decisions, a move to Auckland, and plenty of moments that reminded me not to take my health—or the people around me—for granted.

My family is my world. They are my “why.” They are the reason I keep showing up, keep learning, and keep doing what I do.

To my husband, thank you for always believing in me, backing me, and walking beside me through every chapter. I couldn’t ask for a better teammate.

As I step into 53, I’m excited for what’s ahead. I’ve already had enquiries here in Auckland, and I’m looking forward to continuing to support people across New Zealand through online consultations and body composition scan events.

Before I jump into this next chapter, I’ve got one important job to do—focus on my own health. Surgery, recovery, and healing. Sometimes the best investment we can make is in ourselves, and that’s exactly what I plan to do.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported me, encouraged me, referred people to me, and trusted me to be part of your health journey. It means more than you’ll ever know.

Here’s to 53… grateful, excited, and ready for whatever comes next. 💚❤️
