In the last year, I almost forgot about the magic of my wee business. The pressure of being everything in the business - the hands on, the decisions, the financial responsibility, the constant mental load that no one else sees. I was also seeing small businesses close left right and centre - and thought, perhaps it was time to admit that Loft had done its dash. Keeping it “together” on my own with a commercial mortgage and lease through a recession or two, a pandemic, and more then enough major personal life “stuff” - I seriously considered what an exit would look like.

I then remembered what pure magic happens behind these doors. I have bonded so incredibly beautifully with people from all walks of life. I’ve been with you through YOUR seasons - the celebrations & commiserations. There has been transformations, space for quiet time, somewhere to share what you usually hold close to your chest. You choose to share those with me - It’s an honor, and it’s a privilege.

Thank you so much for sticking by me during the seasons of my business. Some of you since day one! I am extremely proud of this community of mine.

Ten years of sole operation has taught me a lot, including most recently what burnout really feels like.

After more than two decades in my field, I’m stepping into something new - mentoring my fellow sole operators in service based industries.

This is for the ones doing it all themselves. The ones who love their work but feel the weight of it too. Let’s have the kinds of conversations we don’t get to have when we’re stuck in the day to day. Honest, practical, in person support. Back to basics accountability, troubleshooting, task based focus.
