Have you ever woken up with a tight jaw or a headache?

It could be a sign that you’re grinding or clenching your teeth while you sleep.

Over time, this can place extra pressure on your teeth and jaw muscles, potentially contributing to tooth wear, sensitivity, jaw pain and headaches.

If this sounds familiar, it’s worth mentioning at your next dental appointment. 🦷

Some everyday habits can put more stress on your teeth than you realise...

From grinding and chewing ice to frequent snacking, acidic drinks and using your teeth as tools, these small habits can contribute to tooth wear, sensitivity, cracks and other dental issues over time.

Oral health and overall health are closely linked, with inflammation and bacteria associated with conditions throughout the body. For example, gum disease and diabetes can influence each other, with poor oral health potentially making blood sugar control more difficult.

Looking after your mouth isn’t just about your teeth, it’s an important part of looking after your overall health, too.

Putting off your dental check-up might feel like a way to save money, but preventative care can help identify potential issues before they become more complex, and potentially more costly.

Regular check-ups are an important part of maintaining your oral health, even when everything feels fine.

If it’s been a while since your last visit, consider this your sign to book. 🦷

Did you know? 👀

Over time, older amalgam fillings can contribute to cracks or fractures in the surrounding tooth structure.

This can happen because amalgam fillings don’t bond to the tooth in the same way modern adhesive restorations do, and the tooth can be placed under stress over time.

If you have older, large amalgam fillings, it may be worth having them checked at your next dental appointment.

Ever wondered what's happening during your appointments? One part of our filling appointments is setting our composite 🦷✨

Once the composite has been carefully placed and shaped, we use a special light to cure (harden) the material, allowing it to set securely in place. It’s a small step, but an important part of creating a strong, natural-looking result!
