Matt does so much behind the scenes to keep Velca running smoothly, support the team, and make sure our patients are well looked after. He brings a huge amount of knowledge, care and energy to the clinic, and is always willing to go the extra mile to help his patients move better and feel their best.

We’re very lucky to have him leading the team, keeping everyone on track, and somehow still finding time for a laugh along the way.

Chronic pain doesn’t only affect the part of your body that hurts 🌿🤕

Conditions such as fibromyalgia can often exist alongside anxiety, low mood, stress, frustration and changes in relationships or social connection. Pain can affect emotional wellbeing, while stress and difficult emotions can also influence how pain is experienced.

That doesn’t mean your pain is imaginary or “all in your head”. Chronic pain is complex, and supporting both the physical and emotional sides of the experience can be an important part of care.

Counselling can provide space to work through challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, anger, low self-esteem, isolation, relationship difficulties and past experiences that may be affecting your wellbeing.

A big thank you to Dr Judy Huang, Gastroenterologist, for visiting the Velca team and sharing her knowledge and insights around Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) ✨

Dr Huang also joined us alongside one of her patients, giving our team a valuable opportunity to hear more about the patient experience and the importance of a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to care.

We loved the opportunity to learn more, ask questions and strengthen our understanding of how we can better support patients with EDS and hypermobility 💪💙

Our chiropractor Matt recently attended a conference on lower back pain, hosted by the NZ College of Musculoskeletal Medicine.

It was a great opportunity to hear the latest discussions in lower back pain management, connect with some of the specialists we work alongside, and get a look at what may be coming next in the future of health care.

We really value continued learning at Velca and bringing that knowledge back into the clinic to support our patients. 💙
