We are very excited to be launching Mount Holdsworth sauna sessions next weekend ⛰️

To celebrate, sessions are just $20 (usually $24) for the whole opening weekend, plus we’ll have free coconut water on hand to top up those electrolytes post-sweat.

Come soak up the magic of the wood-fired sauna, dip in the stunning Atiwhakatu stream and breathe in the fresh mountainous air. Bring a friend or come solo, we can’t wait to host you.

Beautiful winter views on retreat this weekend at Parehua Resort Martinborough. Thank you to The Sauna Project Wairarapa for helping to bring the winter warming feels to our retreat and to all that came and shared in the weekend.

Last year over Matariki we launched The Sauna Project Wairarapa. As we close out this Matariki, we’re taking the time to reflect on the year that’s been, and on everyone who’s been part of it.

Our formula is simple: wood-fired sauna 🔥, natural water plunge 💧🌊, nature 🍃🌿, community 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ but the results have been profound.

To everyone who’s come along, brought a friend, or told someone about us, thank you 🫶 We couldn’t do this without you.

We feel really excited for what the future holds for The Sauna Project Wairarapa. Thank you for being a part of this community so far 🥰 We are only just getting started!

We have become very good at and obsessed with wellness 💪 sleep scores, supplements, adequate protein, tracking steps, detoxes, weighted vests etc 🙋‍♀️😅

Don’t get me wrong, all of that stuff is great but sometimes, it’s the simply things that feel most restorative… especially in today’s modern world. Things that aren’t easily measured ~ getting outside your comfort zone, sitting in the rain after a sauna, getting to know a stranger, honest conversations, being vulnerable, having a good cry, belly laughs.

For generations, sauna has always been more than a health practice, and as sauna hosts we feel passionate about providing a space where people can come, to rest, unwind, connect with themselves and each other while being in nature 🌿🍃

The benefits that come from this are not always easily measured, but they can be deeply felt ❤️

We will have the sauna hot all three days of the Matariki weekend ✨

Through sauna & river plunging, take a moment to pause, reconnect with yourself, others & nature, and honour the themes of Matariki ~ Reflection, gratitude and new beginnings.

✨Aufguss ✨

What is it? A German sauna ritual where a sauna host pours water, often infused with essential oils or natural aromas, over the hot rocks and then circulates the heat and steam throughout the room. The result is a more intense and immersive sauna experience that we have heard many people describe as feeling like a warm hug 🤗

As part of each sauna session, either Will or I come in three times over the hour to perform this ritual. It’s a wonderful opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy the heat. While it can feel intense at times, people consistently tell us how much they love Aufguss.

There is so much to learn about Aufguss, and there are many different ways to carry out sauna rituals. We are always keen to hear from people who have their own unique knowledge, traditions, or techniques to share with our sauna community ( Dm us! 🤓)
