Hang out with me! Here’s what a day at Salt HQ looks like from my side of the treatment bed. Did you know I’m also a naturopath? It’s actually what led me into skin and laser.

It might seem like an unusual side quest in my career, but after years of struggling with acne, eczema and endometriosis, it made perfect sense. I became fascinated by how the body functions and how we can get it working optimally. Like most things, people treat what they can see without understanding the root cause, which is where my obsession with the human body led me to. I started to learn about why skin behaves the way it does and how it’s an insight to something happening internally.

Now I combine laser technology with a whole-body approach because your skin doesn’t exist in isolation.

During your consultation, I’ll probably ask questions that seem completely unrelated to your skin.

I want to know about your health now, but I also want to know what happened five, ten or even twenty years ago.

Have you had glandular fever? Taken long courses of antibiotics? Lived with chronic stress? Been through pregnancy? Had digestive issues? Struggled with your menstrual cycle? To most people those things feel like they’ve been and gone, but they can leave clues about how your body functions today.

Take glandular fever for example (I know, feels random which is why I’m picking it to discuss). Most people recover completely, but from a naturopathic perspective it’s one of many things we should take into consideration. A significant illness may have influenced your immune system, inflammation, nutrient stores or overall resilience. It doesn’t mean it’s causing your acne or eczema today, but it may be one piece of a much bigger puzzle.

That’s why I don’t just ask what skincare you’re using.I want to understand your whole story because your skin is constantly giving us clues to what’s happening inside.

Laser tattoo removal on cosmetic brows 🔬🫧

We previously shared this client’s results after one of her treatments, so I thought I’d update you with where she finished her brow removal journey.

After just two treatments she decided she was happy with the amount of pigment we had removed and is now planning to have her brows touched up by another artist locally.

If your end goal is to have your brows re-tattooed, I always recommend chatting with your chosen artist before we continue treatment. They’ll be able to tell us how light they’d like the old tattoo to be, which can save you unnecessary laser sessions (and money).

Not everyone needs complete removal. If you’re simply softening old work or refreshing your brows, stopping at the right point can create the perfect base for new cosmetic tattooing. If you’re wanting a completely new shape, a fresh canvas or to achieve and complete natural brow, we simply continue treatment and do a full removal.

The soft brown tone left behind at this stage is actually something many clients love, especially if they don’t have naturally full brows. The dark, blocky pigment has been removed but there’s still enough colour to provide a little shape and definition and for those wanting a completely fresh canvas, we simply continue laser treatments until those remaining brown and red tones have broken down.

As you can see, every brow tattoo removal journey is different because every client’s goals are different. Some want complete removal, while others simply want to soften old work enough for a beautiful refresh. That’s why every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach.

These tattoos were not heavy in ink meaning they responded very well to the laser. Our client is also healthy, partakes in regular exercise and hydrates often which contributes significantly to a speedy removal journey.

We had 9 months between her last sessions and a lot of fading happened in that space. Often people are suprised when we suggest a longer time between appointments, however we sometimes need to allow the body space to break down the ink. Tattoo removal isn’t just about smashing the tattoo as much as possible, a good and trustworthy technician will know when it’s time to start spacing those appointments out further🫧🔬
