This was such a fun and challenging division to enter into! There is just something so suave about enhancing a man’s features whilst keeping the lashes minimal and complimentary. I seriously wouldn’t have pulled this off without the modelling and photography skills of my handsome friend . Thank you for trusting me and just rolling with it (agreeing before I even gave you the brief of what I needed), and for absolutely knocking it out of the park! 🏏

As some of you may already know, a few weeks ago I bought a house! With such an exciting new adventure ahead, that also means new and exciting space for Blender Beauty Boutique.

From Monday 7th April, Blende Beauty Boutique will be located at 30B Kukuwai Avenue, Red Beach. This new location is located only a 4 minute drive from our current location in Silverdale, and it’ll also be returning a little closer to our Orewa roots.

We so appreciate the amount of love and support around this exciting move, and we can’t wait to share this stunning new space with you!

✨ 2024 Creative Lash Art Entry ✨

For my entry for this year’s Creative Lash Art competition, encompassing the theme of ‘the moon & stars’ I decided to follow the Māori legend of Rōna and the Moon.

When the theme got announced, I was sitting in my favourite place in the world, Pataua South, in the hammock under the stars over Matariki weekend. As I sat there pondering what I would do for this year’s entry, I looked up at the moon and nothing felt more right than to follow the legend of Rōna & the Moon. (If you haven’t heard this legend before, I highly recommend googling it as it’s a beautiful story with many values and lessons weaved into it). It explores the virtues of forgiveness, kindness, empathy and femininity.

Over the past couple of years, I have been exploring and embracing my Māori heritage. I have such a long way to go but deciding to incorporate this into my vision helped me further delve into the traditions of the culture. From this, I realised there were particular aspects that I could and couldn’t do. Such as, I really wanted to incorporate a Korowai (Māori cloak) but I couldn’t use one that was ‘borrowed’ as this is tapu, as well as I wanted to have stars on the korowai. So I decided to create my own korowai from scratch.

I executed my lash set in an ‘anime’ styled set, to mimic the rays of the stars/sun. I made sure to secure the white lash extensions from underneath my model’s natural lashes, to ‘hide’ any of the darkness of the natural lashes. I also used Holy N**e clear adhesive, to also contribute to the light and bright lash set. Again, avoiding any additional darkness around the natural lashes.

This theme was so fun and ultimately so special to me and I always enjoy the challenge of trying new techniques. I’m so proud of my set and how it turned out. I’m so excited to find out what next years theme is!

🥈Second Place in Male Styling 🥈

This was such a fun category to enter this year, and really pushed me out of my comfort zone, challenging my creativity.

I used a mixture of flat classic lashes in 0.15 and 0.20, closed fans and I used brown lashes for the top layer to soften the look. Lashing in layers, using C, CC and D curl. I wanted to naturally enhance my model’s eyes, opening and elevating his look whilst keeping it elegant and modest.

I’m so proud of this entry and I’m so grateful for my model getting on board and embracing my concept (and actually wearing the lashes for the following weeks - how cool)!

Wanting soft and whimsical? This elegant angel set is the go. A little more density than a classic set, but still not too heavy. Textured tips and lashing in layers to give a more ‘natural’ effect. 🤌🏽

❕IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT❕

It is very bitter sweet that I announce that our location at 292 Hibiscus Coast Highway, Orewa, will be coming to an end. From Monday 2nd September, we will be operating from 15 Kapehu Road, Silverdale. All appointments which are currently booked from this date onwards, still remain locked and loaded, just from the new premises. If the change of location affects your appointment, please get in contact via phone, email or social media.

Wednesday 28th August will be Crystal’s last day located at the Orewa salon as she will be transitioning to work her nail magic full time at in Parnell. We encourage and support all of those who can, to follow Crystal. On a personal note, I really want to wish Crystal all of the success, happiness and growth in this next phase of her business. Crystal has pretty much been with the salon from the start and I genuinely don’t think I could have done this without her! She has been an integral part of the salon growth, and I’m so grateful!

The past 18 months have been the most phenomenal, exciting, motivating, stressful, tiring and wild months of my life. I have learned so many lessons, met so many wonderful new people and grown so much as a beauty professional.

The amount of growth that the salon gained over the past year absolutely blows my mind. I shall forever be grateful of the support and the community which has made this dream a reality. There has been many reasons which have all contributed to the decision I’ve made to close the salon, but ultimately, I want to prioritise providing the most professional, reliable and high quality service for my clients.

As many of you know, I’ve been working six days and approximately 65 hours per week for the past four years. I have put my heart and soul into my baby. However, the time has come to pivot the business and gain a little more control and structure of my life. With this being said, having the salon operate from home allows me to offer a higher quality service to my clients, both face to face and behind the scenes.

I’m honestly so excited for this next chapter and I really can’t wait to take you all on the journey with me! 💚
