As you know, today marks my official, highly anticipated, and deeply undeserved early retirement. Some people retire at 65 to play golf, I’m retiring now because being a Duchess just sounds better.
Looking back, building this business has been an incredible journey. I’ve spent years perfecting the art of pretending to be a licensed therapist while applying acrylics and gels, and honestly, that’s the part I’m going to miss the most. We built a beautiful community here, built on trust, laughter, and an aggressive amount of glitter.
Now, you can’t talk about this place without talking about Jules. When I first took her under my wing, I was just looking to mentor a great artist and pass along some tricks of the trade. I had no idea I was actually adopting a new family member. Watching her grow, master her craft, and handle clients with so much grace has been one of the absolute best parts of this entire experience.
Jules, working with you and mentoring you hasn’t just been a highlight of running this business, it grew into a true, lifelong friendship. You’re family now, which unfortunately for you means you can’t ever fully escape me, even if the salon doors are closing!
To all of my amazing clients: thank you for letting me hold your hands… literally… for all these years. You made this ‘job’ feel like hanging out with friends every single day.
I’m stepping away with a full heart and zero regrets.
