🌿 What does 'formulation-led skincare' actually mean?

For me, it means I don't start with a trending ingredient and build a product around the marketing story.

I start with the formulation as a whole.

Every ingredient has a reason for being there. Some provide hydration or nourishment. Some support the skin barrier. Some bring antioxidant benefits. Others influence the texture, absorption and overall feel of the finished product.

And importantly, they need to work well together.

I've been formulating skincare for around 15 years now, and one thing hasn't changed. I'm far more interested in creating a beautifully balanced formulation than putting one fashionable ingredient front and centre simply because everyone is talking about it.

That's what I mean when I say:

True Botanix began at my own formulation bench, and that's still where every product begins today.

I choose ingredients for a reason. Not simply because they're fashionable or sound impressive on a label, but for what they contribute to a formulation, how they work alongside other ingredients, and ultimately, how the finished product supports the skin.

The ingredients you see here are just a few of those I work with, including Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Alpha Bisabolol, Rosehip and Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil.

For me, good skincare has always been about the whole formulation, not one hero ingredient.
