Thinking about brow tattooing but not sure who to trust? Fair enough. This is your face, and it’s not a quick wipe-off if you don’t love it. These are the things I’d look for if I was booking in myself. Swipe through and save it for later.



A good artist won’t just take your booking and hope for the best. You should get a proper consult first, where we chat about your skin, your health and what you’re using at home. Some medications and skincare (think Roaccutane, retinol, blood thinners) can affect how your skin heals and how the pigment holds. If it’s not the right time for you, I’ll tell you. An honest “not yet” is so much better than brows you’re not happy with.

Nobody wants to end up with two sets of brows. Your tattoo should work with what you’ve already got, following your natural shape, hairs and growth pattern. That’s how you get brows that look like yours, just better on a Monday morning. If your artist isn’t looking closely at your natural brows, that’s a red flag.

Fresh brows always look bold. That’s normal. Over the next few weeks they soften and settle, and healed brows should look much more natural. That’s the result you’ll actually live with, so that’s what you should be seeing. Ask your artist for healed photos. If they can’t show you any, ask why.

This one’s non-negotiable. Needles, gloves, wipes, everything should be sterile, single-use and opened fresh for you. You’re trusting someone with your skin, so you should never have to wonder.

There’s no way you should spend $700 on your brows and walk out with nothing to look after them. Aftercare and a clear guide should be part of your appointment, plus someone to message when you’re on day 4 wondering if what’s happening is normal. (It usually is. But you should be able to ask.) How you look after them makes a big difference to how they heal.

Brow tattooing is a two-step process. Your first session is always kept super natural, because everyone’s skin holds pigment differently. Your perfecting session is where we fill in any gaps, tweak the shape and build up the colour if you want more.
