1. GEOMETRIES Rare - A one-of-a-kind set from her Geometrias collection. This shape were just made once! And the colour combo reminds me of a sunset above the water.

2. Hexa Basics. From Iraia's PentaHexa collection. They have a unique way of being subtle and strong at the same time.

3. Penta Basics. Also from her PentaHexa collection, these are probably my favourite. It has blacked finishing in one end. When I tried them on, I felt like I was wearing (my) light and (my) darkness at the same time. And how empowering that was!

𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘅 𝗣𝗼𝗽 𝘂𝗽!
Here in the Southern Hemisphere, we can sense Spring is approaching. Days feeling a bit longer, and more light in the mornings are a big sign for me.

And as I noticed yesterday morning that my garden is showing some timid onion weeds white flowers also announcing a change of season is coming, I thought it was the perfect time to announce our next Pop Up!

For two days only, Contemporanea will be holding a 𝗣𝗼𝗽 𝗨𝗽 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘆.

Right in the middle of the WOW (World of Wearable Art) weeks, this Pop Up weekend will be filled with unseen jewellery pieces.

New arrivals from CasaKiro Joy ® (Chile) Eleonora Guidotti  (Spain) Constanza Bielsa Ferreyra  (Chile), and a special little collection from a NEW artist who works with a material never seen at Contemporanea!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝗶𝘇𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗲.
As my hibernation period is slowly coming to an end, I can feel it and notice it as well, having a bit more light each day, and more energy to go with that.

I wanted to share a little about one of the first artists who joined Contemporanea, Iraia Aizcorbe Iraia Aizcorbe based in Madrid. Her Author's Jewellery has a distinctive way of constructing, crafting and visualising.

I met Iraia in 2023, when I visited her at Lalabeyou Escuela de Joyería Contemporánea Madrid an amazing studio and gallery in Madrid, where I found out she was also a teacher. I'd been following her work for a while before that. Meeting her in person confirmed what I already sensed: her work is magnetic, and she is deeply committed to her own practice.

Iraia's jewellery is rooted in geometry and opposites. Straight lines and curves. Simplicity and forcefulness. Her approach is architectural: minimal, angular pieces that carry real presence and strength. She believes existence is grounded in the balance of opposites, and that is exactly what her work holds.

If you are wanting to experiment this kind of strength and presence, rooting yourself in that real sense of who you are, then her work is meant for you.✨️

Contemporanea's story.

In 2023, we travelled with my family to Spain.

In between family gatherings, aperitivos, and long sobremesas, we took time to visit places close to my partner's heart. And it was in one of those small towns that I met two artists whose passion and creativity stirred something deep within me.

I was reminded of how it once felt to make things by hand. I studied silversmithing almost 20 years ago, and I realised that the flame never left.✨️

I started making plans to re-train, update my skills, and dive back into jewellery making.

And then, during a kitchen conversation with my partner (because let’s be honest, the best ideas happen while cooking or sharing a drink!), the dream grew bigger.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸?✨️

What if I could build something that honoured the work of others too?

Something that could 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

A space where female artists from around the world could share their stories and their jewellery — pieces made slowly, thoughtfully, and with heart.

I saw Constanza's work at the Joya Chilena show and couldn't let it go. One day in Santiago, food poisoning and all, I went to find her.
What followed was a little cafe in Ñuñoa, a great conversation, long distance exchange and explorations, and a collection that lives in the in between.
