I thought I would share this photo I made with my lovely friend Suzanne and her gorgeous daughter Lulu with makeup by the amazing Hil Cook - Makeup, hair & prosthetic artists and assistance by my son Niko.

I wanted to create a work that tells the story of the many expectations put upon mothers to be beautiful goddesses while also perfect nurturing mothers. Who hasn’t felt pulled every which way and wished for a second set of hands while parenting small people! I originally visualised having a baby sitting on top of her mothers head with mum as a Greek statue. On the day however, little Lulu was rather freaked out by her painted Mum and not that keen on being on her head. So as it always seems to happen with creative shoots we rolled with what was working.

Suzanne was an absolute trooper and she really did look like a statue thanks to the amazing work of Hil Cook - Makeup, hair & prosthetic artists who totally got my vision and made it happen. Hil was also kind enough to let my son Niko who is an aspiring makeup artist assist her 🙂

The milk in case anyone is wondering, symbolises the feeling of having the life drained out of you- which is something I felt a lot when my kids were small!

Thanks to Suzanne, Lulu, Hil and Niko for indulging my crazy idea:)

This photo got a silver award at the recent IRIS awards.

So-called “conversion therapy” is not a real thing. LBGT Kiwis are perfect just the way they are ❤️

Don’t think I ever posted this makeup.... swipe for more. Incredible footage shot for an exhibition in France. I got total creative licence each day to create some stand out wounds. Such a fantastic job to do .
