Why did the ancient world want frankincense so badly?

Frankincense began as fresh resin from the Boswellia sacra tree, slowly hardening into the treasured tears that traveled across ancient trade routes and became deeply woven into homes, rituals, sacred spaces, and traditional wellness practices.
