Beyond the Cape: Honoring Our Everyday Heroes This National Heroes Day

This past National Heroes Day, I had the privilege of working on a very meaningful campaign with the powerful theme: "Hindi lahat ng bayani naka-kapa" (Not all heroes wear capes). It was incredibly inspiring to think about the people who, like the legendary Rizal and Bonifacio, make a significant impact without a flashy uniform or special powers. This campaign was a celebration of the everyday Filipino, the true backbone of our society, working quietly but with immense dedication....

The faces of our everyday heroes. ✨

Honored to have done the beauty makeup and men's grooming for this special National Heroes' Day campaign!

Our goal was to highlight their everyday, relatable beauty, contrasting with the epic, eternal legacy of Rizal and Bonifacio. The theme "Hindi lahat ng bayani naka-kapa" is so powerful.

Gen Z Commuter: Kept her look fresh, youthful, and vibrant.
Mother: Focused on soft, elegant makeup that celebrates her strength.
Doctor: Sharp, professional grooming for our dedicated frontliners.

Tell me, who are the heroes in your life? 💖👇

Creating believable fatigue for the screen is all in the subtle details. 🎬✨

For this White Flower commercial, my role was to bring out a pale, tired look to highlight the story's focus on relief and comfort. To achieve this, I leaned into pallid skin tones, muted lip color, and precise shading around the eyes to naturally catch high-definition lighting without losing realism.

It’s always satisfying turning realistic, story-driven makeup briefs into screen-ready results! Check out the final ad clip below. 👇

Behind the Lens: Designing a Believable “Sick and Tired” Character Look

When working on commercial spots, most people think makeup artistry is all about polished glow and flawless skin. But often, the narrative demands the exact opposite. For a recent White Flower commercial project, the script centered on depicting fatigue and discomfort before finding soothing relief. The Challenge: Photorealistic PallorCreating a sick or exhausted look on modern high-definition cameras requires a delicate touch....

On Set: Crafting Realistic Sick & Cold FX Makeup for White Flower

When working on commercial sets, character makeup often requires creating subtle, believable physical states that read naturally under high-definition lighting. For a recent video shoot with White Flower, my task was to transform the talent into someone battling a heavy, exhausting cold. The Technique & Approach To create an authentic "under-the-weather" look without making the makeup appear heavy or chalky, I focused on three key elements:...

Behind the scenes on set with White Flower! 🎬

When portraying a character battling a severe cold, screen-ready makeup requires precise detailing. I focused on building a pale, washed-out complexion paired with localized redness around the nose, subtle raw irritation, and fatigued under-eye tones to make the symptoms look genuinely convincing on camera.
It’s always a rewarding process bringing these realistic physical details to life on set. Hope you all enjoy the final commercial!

Dialing Back the Glow: Crafting a Dizzy, Fatigue-Ridden Look

When the brief calls for "dizzy, exhausted, and barely holding on," you dial back the warmth and let the under-eye tones do the talking 😵‍💫💫 Building this pallid, fatigued look for White Flower Embrocation was all about subtle color correction—cool-toned undertones, muted lips, and strategic soft shadowing around the eyes to give off that authentic "commuting with a severe headache" vibe on camera....

Subtle work is always the hardest—making someone look naturally drained and dizzy without it turning into a theatrical costume.

For this White Flower ad, the goal was a soft, pale, almost translucent finish to capture that feeling of motion sickness on a crowded commute. Just enough undertone shifting to look under the weather, but polished enough for screen. 📱✨
