I never really dreamt to be one. 😆

I pursued education even when I couldn’t see myself in it.

I didn’t dream of becoming a teacher. It wasn’t part of my plan, it was a direction shaped by my parents’ hopes. My mother carried a dream she couldn’t fulfill back then (but eventually fufilled it years after), and my father, determined that I would finish what others couldn’t, chose the path for me.

“Inday, di mosugot si Papa sa imong gusto nga kurso. Pa-maestrahon ka niya.”

“Okay ra, Ma. Importante makahuman ko’g eskwela.”

And that was it. Not passion, just purpose.

I took the entrance exam, passed, and stepped into a world I didn’t choose… at first.

But somewhere between lesson plans, sleepless nights, and standing in front of students, something shifted. What started as obedience slowly became acceptance… then growth… and eventually, love.

When I entered the teaching profession, I finally understood: this was never just a course. It was a calling I hadn’t recognized yet.

I stayed. I grew. I pursued more... Master’s, Doctorate... not because I had to, but because I believed in what I was doing. Because I saw it.

The lives changed.
The dreams built.
The young minds shaped.

Education didn’t just give me a career, it gave me purpose.

Not every path begins with passion. Some begin with obedience, uncertainty, even resistance. But that doesn’t make them any less meaningful.

Sometimes, the life you didn’t choose becomes the life that chooses you.

God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called.
