The City Health Office (CHO) โ Health Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) Team provided medical standby coverage during the 126th Civil Service Month Celebration โ Volleyball Invitational, organized by Hon. Greizl Galario-Fernandez, City Vice Mayor of Valencia City, held at the City Hall Volleyball Court, Valencia City, Bukidnon, on September 24, 2026. The medical standby was provided to ensure the availability of immediate first aid, medical assistance, and emergency response for the participating players, officials, organizers, and spectators throughout the event.
The assigned HEMS medical team was composed of Phillip Gin Dexter O. Abella, Team Leader; Joan L. Quiachon; Edrian Dale M. Cork; and Jessrel Mae O. Butal. The team remained at the venue for the duration of the activity and maintained a state of readiness to respond to injuries, medical concerns, and other emergencies that could occur during the volleyball games.
The activity was also supported by the assigned HEMS drivers and logistics personnel, Charles G. Abao and Chaldon G. Dominggo, who assisted in transporting the medical team, emergency equipment, and necessary supplies to and from the venue. Their logistical support helped ensure the mobility, accessibility of resources, and operational readiness of the HEMS team throughout the activity.
The provision of medical standby contributed to maintaining a safe and prepared environment for the participating teams and other attendees. The coordinated efforts of the HEMS medical personnel, drivers, logistics support, and event organizers ensured that appropriate medical assistance was readily available while the volleyball invitational was being conducted.
The HEMS Team expressed its appreciation to Hon. The City Health Office (CHO) โ Health Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) Team provided continuous medical standby and emergency preparedness support during the 126th Civil Service Month Celebration held from September 14 to 23, 2026, with various activities conducted at the Valencia City Gymnasium and City Hall Covered Court. The HEMS deployment formed part of the Cityโs commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of government employees, participants, organizers, and guests throughout the celebration, particularly during the basketball, volleyball, and futsal activities.
The medical standby teams were led by Team Leaders Phillip Gin Dexter O. Abella, Joan L. Quiachon, and Angel W. Malunes, with support from Jessrel Mae O. Butal, Kempnaire C. Alquizar, Edgar Q. Bacolod, Jr., Edrian Dale M. Cork, James Conrad Balcurza, and other assigned HEMS personnel. The teams remained on standby during the basketball, volleyball, and futsal activities, maintaining readiness to respond to injuries and other medical concerns.
The operations were further supported by HEMS drivers and logistics personnel Roy Abanilla and Chaldon G. Dominggo, who assisted in the transportation of personnel, medical equipment, and supplies, helping ensure the mobility and readiness of the medical teams throughout the different activities.
The successful deployment highlighted the HEMS Teamโs commitment to providing reliable emergency medical support during city activities. Through teamwork, preparedness, and coordination with the event organizers and participating offices, the HEMS personnel contributed to the safe and orderly conduct of the celebration.

DOH CHD NM, CHO Valencia TBDOTS Center Conduct TB Caravan at Valencia City Jail to Intensify TB Case Finding
The Valencia City Health DOTS Center, under the Infectious Disease Division headed by Dr. Juniver G. FLores, EMT, MPH and Jonalyn R. Dablio, RN, Nurse IV of the City Health Office, in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), conducted a Tuberculosis (TB) Caravan at the Valencia City Jail Male and Female Dormitories on September 18 and 21, 2026, to intensify TB case finding and strengthen TB prevention and control efforts in the city.
The activity brought essential and accessible TB services directly to persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), including free chest X-ray, TB screening, and TB Information, Education and Communication (IEC) sessions. These services aimed to facilitate early identification of individuals who may have TB, provide appropriate health information, and promote timely diagnosis and treatment.
The TB Caravan also emphasized the importance of recognizing TB signs and symptoms, seeking early consultation, completing the prescribed treatment, and practicing preventive measures to help reduce the transmission of TB within the jail facility and the wider community.
This collaborative initiative demonstrates the continuing commitment of the Valencia City Health Office, together with the DOH and PBSP, to bring quality and accessible healthcare services to vulnerable and high-risk populations. Through strengthened case finding and early intervention, the program contributes to the broader goal of reducing TB transmission and ending tuberculosis as a public health threat.

CHO CONDUCTS SCHOOL-BASED IMMUNIZATION ORIENTATION FOR PARENTS IN LUMBAYAO INTEGRATED SCHOOL
The City Health Office (CHO) of Valencia City conducted a School-Based Immunization (SBI) / Bakuna Eskwela Orientation for the parents of learners from Lumbayao Integrated School during their respective General Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Meetings on September 18, 2026.
The orientation was facilitated and conducted by Venadyl F. Cantero, RN, EMT, Health Education and Promotion Officer III (HEPO III), together with Donna M. FLores, RN , who oriented parents on the upcoming implementation of the School-Based Immunization Program, which will start this October 2026.
Cantero discussed the eligible learners and vaccines included in the program. All Grade 1 and Grade 7 learners will be eligible to receive the Measles-Rubella (MR) and Tetanus-Diphtheria (Td) vaccines, while eligible female learners aged 9โ14 years, including Grade 5 learners, will be offered the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, in accordance with the program guidelines.
The CHO emphasized that vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect children and adolescents from vaccine-preventable diseases. Immunization provides protection to the vaccinated child while also helping prevent the spread of diseases in schools, families, and the community.
Parents were encouraged to understand the benefits of the recommended vaccines, provide the necessary consent, and work closely with teachers and health personnel to ensure that eligible learners are protected. The orientation also provided an avenue for parents to raise questions and clarify concerns regarding the upcoming immunization activities.
The successful implementation of Bakuna Eskwela 2026 is strengthened through the continued support of the City Government of Valencia, under the leadership of City Mayor Amie G. CHO Strengthens Community Health Services Through PuroKalusugan Job Guide Roll-out, IPCC, and BHW Monitoring in Barangay Kahaponan
The City Government of Valencia, through the City Health Office (CHO), successfully conducted the PuroKalusugan Job Guide Roll-out, Interpersonal Communication and Counselling (IPCC), and Barangay Health Worker (BHW) Monitoring and Updates on September 17, 2026, at Barangay Kahaponan, as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen community-based health services and enhance the capacity of frontline health workers in delivering quality primary healthcare.
Serving as speakers and facilitators were Venadyl F. Cantero, RN, EMT, Health Education and Promotion Officer III; Serina A. Merida, RM, Midwife IV; and Zenette T. Balindres, RN, EMT, City BHW Coordinator;who shared their knowledge and expertise to further empower BHWs in carrying out their vital roles in the community.
The activity featured discussions on essential health program updates and services, including BHW accreditation, proper techniques in taking vital signs, prenatal care visits and scheduling, the roles and responsibilities of BHWs, and the Seven Priority Areas of Health Promotion.
A key component of the activity was the PuroKalusugan Job Guide, which aims to equip community health workers with practical and relevant information that can guide them in promoting healthy practices and connecting residents with appropriate health services.
The participants were also provided with updates on immunization and the importance of vaccination in protecting individuals and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases. Through the IPCC session, BHWs were equipped with practical communication and counselling approaches to effectively address health rumors, vaccine refusals, and vaccine hesitancy through respectful dialogue, active listening, empathy, and accurate health information.
Meanwhile, monitoring and supportive supervision were conducted to assess the implementation of health programs, identify challenges, provide technical guidance, and further strengthen the performance of the barangay health team.

CHO JOINS LIGA NG MGA BARANGAY MONTHLY MEETING, STRENGTHENS HEALTH INFORMATION AND BARANGAY HEALTH WORKER SUPPORT
The City Health Office (CHO) of Valencia City participated in the Liga ng mga Barangay Monthly Meeting held on September 16, 2026, at Elcomedor Seafoods and Grill, Valencia City, as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen coordination and collaboration with barangay leaders in advancing community health programs.
Representing the City Health Office were Venadyl F. Cantero, RN, EMT, HEPO III, and Zenette T. Balindres, RN, EMT, City BHW Coordinator, who provided updates on important health programs and concerns relevant to the barangays.
Cantero shared information on the upcoming School-Based Immunization (SBI) program, particularly the eligible population and the vaccines that will be administered to qualified learners. She emphasized the importance of the support and cooperation of barangay officials in disseminating accurate information to parents and guardians and encouraging eligible children to participate in the immunization program.
Meanwhile, Balindres presented updates concerning the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), particularly matters related to the city honorarium. The discussion provided an opportunity to clarify concerns and strengthen coordination between the CHO, barangay officials, and BHWs in ensuring continued support for the city's frontline community health workers.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Bukidnon and the City Government of Valencia, through the City Health Office (CHO) led by Dr. Mary Claire Ida B. Ricare-Rabago, RN successfully conducted a Bloodletting Activity on September 16, 2026 at Barangay San Isidro Covered Court, Valencia City, Bukidnon where 60 generous blood donors participated in this humanitarian effort.
The initiative aimed to ensure a stable blood supply for patients in need, including those undergoing surgeries, trauma cases, and individuals with chronic illnesses. With the support of medical professionals and volunteers, the event was carried out smoothly, following strict health and safety protocols to safeguard both donors and recipients.
The CHO expressed its gratitude to the Barangay Council for the donors and personnel, as well as to all volunteers who took part in the event.
The success of this bloodletting activity reflects the compassion and generosity of the community. Every donation counts, and the public is encouraged to become regular blood donors.
