✨ The Melbourne farm stay that our kids still talk about... 🦆🐱🌿

After a week in Canberra visiting family, followed by city stays in Sydney & Melbourne, we were more than ready for a slower pace 🥹🌿

For the final leg of our mid-year family holiday, we checked into Duck N Hill Farm (Yarra Valley, 1 hour away from Melbourne) and instantly fell in love ❤️

The moment we arrived, the ducks were already waiting at our balcony to greet us 😂 and Boots, the resident kitty, came by to say hello too. Safe to say the kids were obsessed from the start!

Our mornings were filled with birdsong, fresh country air, and spotting wildlife right outside our cottage. Kangaroos casually hanging around the farm? That definitely saved us a trip (and a few dollars 😆) to a wildlife park!

The cottage was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed. We loved collecting freshly laid eggs from the chicken coop for breakfast 🍳 and spending our evenings around the firepit, watching the sunset while the kids played.

There were toys and games thoughtfully provided too, which made family downtime even more enjoyable ❤️

One of our favourite surprises was dinner at Panton Hill Hotel, just minutes away from the farm. Recommended by the host, and honestly one of the most memorable meals we had during our Melbourne trip 😋

And on our first night, we were blessed with the clearest sky. Watching Luna & Lucian point excitedly at a sky full of stars was one of those simple travel moments we'll never forget ✨

Sometimes the best family holidays aren't about doing more... they're about slowing down and enjoying the little things together 🤍

After spending the past week in Sydney & Melbourne, we were officially city-ed out 😅

So for the final leg of our 2-week Australia adventure, we packed up and headed just an hour out to Yarra Valley 🌿

First stop: Alowyn Gardens 🌸

Honestly, it was the perfect place to let the kids run wild, explore the maze-like gardens, and burn off all that endless energy while we soaked in the peaceful scenery 😌

And of course, no outing is complete without a little treat 🍦 We ended our visit with ice popsicles (which felt surprisingly shiok in winter 😂❄️) before checking into our farm stay for the next 2 nights.

Sometimes the best family memories aren't in the cities, but in these slower moments surrounded by nature ❤️

✨ The most magical family day trip, just an hour from Melbourne 🚂🌿

We finally got to ride the iconic Puffing Billy Railway and honestly... it was unlike any train experience we've ever had.

Imagine riding a beautifully preserved steam train that's been operating since the early 1900s 😮 The station masters looked straight out of a movie in their dapper uniforms, and what made it even more special was learning that many of them are passionate volunteers — some even worked on these trains 40-50 years ago!

One of the cutest things? There are homes right along the railway tracks, and as the train rolled past, residents would come out to wave 👋🏻 and admire the steam train. It felt like stepping into another era.

We took the 4.15pm train from Lakeside Station to Belgrave Station, and WOW. Golden hour through the Dandenong Ranges was absolutely stunning 😍

Little Luna wasn't feeling adventurous at first and spent the beginning of the ride standing by the carriage taking in the beautiful forest views. But eventually she gathered enough courage to sit on the famous carriage ledge with her legs hanging out and kept shouting, "Craaaazy train! Crazy train!" 🤣 while smiling the entire way.

Getting tickets was honestly the hardest part 😅 We ended up joining a tour just to secure seats, even though we already had a rental car and could've done the itinerary ourselves.

But what a day it turned out to be:

🚂 And the unforgettable Puffing Billy experience to end it all
