Eczema is rated the top skin condition seen by the National Skin Centre.

It is caused and aggregated by many factors, such as the environment, our diets and the products we put on our skin. Steriods is one of the most common prescriptions to ease eczema symptoms. However due to its skin thinning side effects, it is definitely not a reccomended long term solution to the agonizing skin condition.

As eczema starts to appear more frequently among newborns and adults, it may be time we review the internal and external factors we expose our skin daily.

DANGERS OF MAN-MADE CHEMICALS

I received an Aloe & Honey gel mask as a souvenir gift, claiming to be "Natural". Just barely 5 min after application, I started experiencing burning sensations and the damage was devastating. Swollen face, inflammation, pain and itch were the result. I took a look at the content of ingredients from the packaging and to my horror, two of them derives from Petroleum which causes dryness and skin irritation.
* Propylene Glycol (PG) - pe*****te enhancer
* Decylene Glycol - synthetic humectant and preservative

Disodium EDTA - Pe*****te enhancer that disrupt skin cell to allow better absorption ability. Another Irritant ingredient :(

Parfum - In cosmetic regulation, exempts brands from the need to be more specific, even though it might contain synthetic, preservative, or allergy-provoking substances

Try to avoid these ingredients as much as possible. They are stated safe to use in small amounts, but imagine using 10 of such products with these ingredients in the long term! There are so many types of natural plant base raw ingredients that can perform the same function or even better. It saddens me that we rely on so much synthetic chemicals for the price of beauty.

Just how much of these chemicals are absorbed into your body through the skin? Imagine the effects it can bring to your health eventually.
