A New Book, A New Milestone, and a Test of Faith

I am humbled and grateful to share that my new book, Beyond the Quota: Women, Power and the Politics of Inclusion in Sierra Leone, is now available on Amazon. This work explores women's political participation, leadership, democratic inclusion, and the journey from representation to meaningful influence in shaping the future of Sierra Leone

This publication comes during a particularly challenging period in my life. In recent days, I was involved in a serious car accident that has left me navigating physical pain, emotional challenges, and ongoing medical evaluations. Yet, amid these difficulties, I have not given up on my faith, my hope, or my trust in God.

This experience has reminded me that life's journey is often marked by unexpected obstacles, but it is also sustained by resilience, purpose, and faith. Through it all, I remain thankful to God for His grace, for the support of family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers, and for the strength to continue moving forward.

As an educator, community development practitioner, family engagement professional, and advocate, I believe that adversity should never prevent us from pursuing our purpose. The completion and publication of this book is a testament to perseverance, hope, and the belief that even during difficult seasons, we can continue to create, contribute, and make a positive impact.

I hope this book contributes meaningfully to conversations on democracy, leadership, gender equality, and inclusive governance in Sierra Leone and beyond.

If you are able, I would be grateful for your support through reading, sharing, and reviewing the book.

Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement, and support. I look forward to continuing this journey with faith, hope, and determination.

Just a quick story about Vozinha.
We’ve been friends for years, and before playing his first game at the World Cup, he asked if I could use my contacts to help him find a club for another year or two because he was 40 and his contract had ended.
I told him, “Bro, go and do your best at the World Cup. You’re a great goalkeeper. I told him you gonno be playing in the biggest stage in the world, bro. Show the world what you can do, and after the tournament, everything will change.”
That’s exactly what happened.
For me, he’s been the best goalkeeper at this World Cup, and now he’s the most followed goalkeeper in the world.
The lesson is simple: never give up. Believe, have faith, work hard, and stay consistent. No matter your age, where you come from, or your situation, your life can change. Just keep believing.
Thank you, Cape Verde. The world is proud of you guys🇨🇻🇨🇻
Você vai jogar no maior palco do mundo, irmão. Mostre ao mundo do que você é capaz e, depois do torneio, tudo vai mudar”.
Foi exatamente isso que aconteceu.
Para mim, ele foi o melhor goleiro desta Copa do Mundo e agora é o goleiro mais seguido do mundo.
A lição é simples: nunca desista. Acredite, tenha fé, trabalhe duro e mantenha a constância. Não importa a sua idade, de onde você vem ou a sua situação: sua vida pode mudar. Apenas continue acreditando.
Obrigado, Cabo Verde. O mundo tem orgulho de vocês.
