Everyone goes through stressful times, so it is of utmost importance that you cultivate a robust set of coping strategies to help build your resilience and reduce the negative impact of life's challenges. Healthy and helpful coping skills can be key to getting you through tough seasons, as they enable you to tolerate and minimise situations and emotions. Being able to manage our stress or anxiety better helps us feel empowered and stronger both physically and psychologically.
So, close your eyes, and let's give ourselves a little room to catch our breath...

Hi everyone,
I have been working on something really close to my heart recently and I wanted to share it with the world. I have been researching and working through a course that focuses on building up and exploring ones personal assets - in short, exploring my own skills and learning techniques and tools that allow me to help others build skills in resilience. It's a demanding world out there and adversity and stress are part of life, but it's how we respond that is solely our responsibility. I have put together what I feel is a really beautiful and really powerful Resilience Workshop that I have tailor made for kids ages 8 to 13. My own kids have inspired this journey!
The course will run from the 14th October to 4th November and take place every Thursday afternoon between 2.30pm and 5pm. The children will be required to bring:
💥A4 hard cover exercise book (this will be their journal for the duration of the workshop)
💥colouring in pens/pencils, scissors and a glue stick
💥water bottle and a mask
*a light snack will be provided
Cost: E400 per child

Benefits of Eating Oats?

Let's talk stretching...
Stretching is a key component of any well rounded exercise routine. And yet, this vital element is often overlooked by many of us (myself included some days).
So, why is it important you ask?
Regular stretching helps increase your range of motion in the joints, improves blood circulation and posture and alleviates muscular tension throughout the body. In addition, it enhances your athletic performance and may reduce the risk of injury. A lack of stretching can limit your range of motion over time and make your muscles tight and shortened due to inflexibility (something I have personally suffered from and has caused my lower back to ache for months on end 🙄). This consequently makes your muscles weak 😱, increasing the risk for strains 😨, joint pain and muscle damage 😩

Our joints can lose up to 50% of their range of motion as we age, so stretching is not just important for athletes hoping to prevent tears, sprains or strains - we all need to be consistent with stretching during each stage in our lives!

Setting solid goals - but WHY?
Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation . It focuses your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you to organise and prioritise your time and your resources, so that you can make the most of your life. The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life. By knowing exactly what you want to achieve, you know where you have to concentrate your efforts. You're also able to quickly spot the distractions that can, so easily, lead you astray.
By setting clear cut and clearly defined goals, you're able to measure and take pride in the achievement of these goals. You'll be able to see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless grind. You will also raise your self-confidence, as you recognize your own ability and competence in achieving the goals that you've set.

In what areas of life could you personally find more balance if this was your lifestyle wheel? Complete balance is unattainable, but we can work towards harmony by allowing things to ebb and flow as they should, and allowing more time and energy to flow into areas that need "refuelling".

Why is Goal Setting Important?
1.Goals focus allow you to focus your sights on something you wish to attain
2. Setting goals helps us to deal with the WHY, WHEN and HOW of your life
3. Allows you to prioritise detailed steps that are needed to reach your dreams
3. By setting goals, you're able to break down larger, more overwhelming tasks, into smaller, more manageable ones
4. Goals help to facilitate better time management (who doesn't want that?!)
5. Setting and achieving goals leads to a sense of accomplishment and self fulfillment
The first step in setting personal goals is to consider what you want to achieve in your lifetime. So, give yourself some time to reflect on that today.

Thriving through Uncertainty – How Do You Cope?
2020 & 2021 – the years that changed our lives more than we could have anticipated.
Self-isolation, cancelled holidays, home schooling, job uncertainty, postponed weddings and birthdays. But here’s the thing – it’s during times like this that the most powerful people thrive. Whilst others are merely surviving and ‘making do’, those who thrive will be taking every opportunity possible to learn, grow and develop. Which group do you see yourself in? It’s not always easy thriving through a crisis, but it is absolutely achievable when you know how and have a set of skills/tools that help you to not only cope, but enable you to thrive. The good news? Anyone can learn these skills, and now is a great time to learn if you haven’t already!
Facing the uncertainties of life can cause a great deal of stress, worry and anxiety. Being able to deal effectively with uncertainty is an essential psychological skill we would all benefit from mastering. We cannot predict with any kind of certainty what the future holds, and the situation we are currently in is unknowable and largely beyond our control. However, we don’t need to control the event – we just need to learn to control our response to the event. In other words, we need to feel able to cope. We need to have effective tools within our life “tool box” in order to cope and handle all the hurdles that life and these uncertain times throw at us. These coping tools leave us feeling empowered, and therefore more in control of ourselves and the ways in which we cope with situations and circumstances. Coping skills help us deal effectively with challenging, difficult events, situations and experiences – whether it’s a relationship break-down, serious illness, financial hardship or the threat of redundancy, effective coping skills can help you feel less out of control.
Here's the thing though...not all coping skills are created equal. Some coping skills are less healthy and far less helpful than others. Some of the strategies people use, may bring a momentary sense of relief but are unlikely to help in the long term. Behaviours such as excessive drinking, drug use, overeating, over-spending, gambling, binge watching TV are not only unhelpful but are likely to make matters worse. The original issue still stands, and now you may have found that you have picked up a new, and rather unhelpful, habit. Uh-oh! 😐 Therefore, it's really important to understand the difference between healthy vs unhealthy coping – the differences, for example between avoidance strategies that are nothing more than a temporary distraction; and strategies that empower us to believe that not only can we cope with the challenges and difficulties of life, but that we can grow beyond them and THRIVE!
Feeling powerful and in control of your thoughts and feelings, having the skills to cope, feeling good about yourself, knowing you always have a choice about how you perceive situations, are all things that I teach through my personal mastery classes.
