This week at Sosa Massage Services with Nilaja!

Metastatis in #cancer is often caused by chemical reactions within a tumor, not so much by physical forces, such as #massagetherapy.

However, malignant tumor cells produce enzymes called #proteases that break down surrounding tissues and extracellular matrix proteins. This allows the cancer cells to invade nearby areas. The tumor cells also secrete growth factors that stimulate the formation of new blood vessels to supply the growing tumor with oxygen and nutrients (apogenesis).

As the tumor grows, some cancer cells can detach from the main mass and enter the bloodstream or #lymphaticsystem. These circulating tumor cells produce adhesion molecules that allow them to stick to and pe*****te the walls of blood vessels in distant organs. The cancer cells then release signaling molecules called #chemokines that attract supporting cells to help establish a new tumor site.

Throughout this process, the tumor cells undergo metabolic changes that allow them to thrive in new environments. They shift to using #aerobicglycolysis for energy and increase production of lipids and nucleotides needed for rapid cell division and growth.

And so...it is unlikely that typical #massage can “spread” cancer.
