Masked men tie up elderly Gasparillo couple, flee in stolen car

An elderly couple was left shaken after two masked, armed men stormed their Bonne Aventure, Gasparillo home and robbed them on Tuesday afternoon.

The 82-year-old man and 67-year-old woman were sitting on their porch around 1:30 p.m. when the assailants approached, announced a robbery and began beating them.

The victims were then reportedly tied up with tie straps and forced onto the floor while the men searched the house.

The robbers escaped in the couple’s silver Nissan B14, valued at about $30,000, taking the man’s wallet, identification and bank cards, along with $1,700 in cash.

The woman lost her handbag, $300 in cash, identification and bank cards, as well as a gold chain and earrings valued at a combined $2,050.

After the men fled along Morne Roche Road, the victims managed to free themselves and report the incident to police.

Mobile and Task Force officers searched for the suspects and the stolen vehicle but were unsuccessful.
