I'm out here today and tomorrow — Philly HBCU Week, both days.

The whole core line is on the table: shampoos, conditioners, the mask, the oil, the serum, the buttercream.

Come with the real question. Not the polite one. The one you've been googling at 1 AM for a year.

And I'll tell you when NOT to buy. If what's already in your bathroom does the job, I'll say so and you keep your money.

Students — ask me about campus machines. That's the next thing we're building and I want to know which campus.

Exact spot goes up in my stories once I'm set up. Message me and I'll come find you.

What does "natural" mean to you when you read it on a bottle?

I sell natural hair care and I still can't give you a clean answer.

Plant-based? No synthetics at all? Nothing you can't pronounce — even though half the things you can't pronounce are vitamins?

Tell me where your line is. I'm genuinely asking. It changes how I write our labels.

10/29/2026

"Chemical-free" is not a thing.

Water is a chemical. Every oil and butter we use is a chemical. The phrase tells you nothing except that somebody wants your trust cheaply.

Sulfate-free — real, but not a virtue on its own. Sulfates clean hard, and product-heavy styles sometimes need something that cleans hard.

All natural — unregulated. Nobody checks it before it goes on a label. Poison ivy is all natural.

Dermatologist tested — tested is not approved, and it never once says what the result was.

Read the ingredient list instead. It runs in order of quantity. The first five are most of the bottle.

Our Chebe African Soap Clarifying Shampoo, $12, is built to strip buildup. That's its job — and it's exactly why it isn't the one for every wash.

What label word do you not trust anymore?

Hot water or cold at the end — what were you taught?

And did anybody ever tell you why?

I got the cold rinse rule from my aunt and repeated it for fifteen years without once asking where it came from.

What's yours, and who gave it to you?

10/28/2026

Does cold water seal the cuticle? Short answer: not the way you were told.

Warm water does one job — it softens sebum and product so the cleanser can lift them. Nothing mystical.

Hot water is the real problem. It strips faster than you can replace, and it makes an itchy scalp worse.

The cold rinse is not a seal. Hair isn't alive; the cuticle doesn't close on command. Cold flattens it a little and it feels smoother — that's real, but it's temporary.

What actually seals: a leave-in on soaking wet hair, then oil or butter on top. Product, not temperature. Chebe Conditioner/Leave-in, $12, on hair that's still dripping.

So — warm to wash, cool to finish if you like how it feels, and stop blaming the tap for a moisture problem.

Who taught you the cold rinse rule?

Your hair's out. What's the first thing you actually do with it?

Mine came down last week and I spent the first hour just looking at it in the mirror. Not styling it. Not fixing it. Just looking at it.

Then I washed it twice and left it completely alone for two days.

What's your first move — wash, trim, style, or stare?

10/27/2026

Mine came down last week. Nothing goes back in until December.

Six weeks of rest — and rest is not doing nothing. It's doing the boring thing on purpose.

1. No new install. Back-to-back tension is how hairlines go. The rest IS the treatment.
2. Wash on a schedule, not a whim. Chebe African Soap Clarifying Shampoo, $12. A set day beats a good intention.
3. Deep condition every single wash. Chebe Deep Conditioning Hair Mask, $15. Thirty minutes, no negotiating.
4. Two big twists at night. That's the whole style.
5. Look at your ends in good light. Six weeks tucked away hides a lot of splits.

Nothing about a rest week is exciting. That is exactly how you know it's working.

How long do you usually go between styles — honestly?

10/27/2026

Where does your hair break first? Nape, edges, or crown.

Mine is the nape, every single winter, and I know exactly why — hoods, collars, and a headrest I never once think about until I'm looking at short pieces in the mirror.

Yours? And do you know what's causing it, or has it just always been that spot?

10/26/2026

Hat season is nape season.

The breakage at her neckline isn't coming from the style. It's coming from what you put on top of it.

Wool and nylon pull moisture straight out of the shortest, finest hair she has — and a coat collar and a car seat headrest rub that same inch all winter long.

Satin between hair and hat. A satin-lined hat, or a scarf under the one she already loves.
Then moisturize the nape on purpose — Herbal Moisturizing Leave-In, $15. It's the spot everybody skips.
Seal the bottom two inches — Versatile Buttercream, $12, warmed between your palms first.

And check the collar and the car seat. Same inch, every single day, all winter.

You can do everything right at the scalp and still lose it at the neckline.
