Hello lavender and flower lovers,

Today I’m taking you into the gardens for a closer look at some rather special flowers. These aren’t necessarily varieties you’ll find at your local nursery or garden center. They’re specialty varieties that we chose because they bring something a little unusual and beautiful to the gardens here at Purple Adobe Lavender Farm.

We begin with the cosmos, including a beautiful white variety called Cupcake. When you look closely, you can see exactly how it got its name. Its delicate petals form the shape of a little cupcake. We’ll also take a look at a few of the other unusual varieties growing alongside it.

Then we’ll look across the gardens to see what else is happening. The dahlias are still putting on their show, we’re planting our next succession of zinnias, and beyond them the sunflowers are standing tall across the field.

This is one of my favorite times to simply walk through the gardens. There is so much to see when you slow down and look closely, and the gardens seem to change from one visit to the next.

Today I’m taking you for a little walk through our dahlia garden. The dahlias are in bloom, and I find myself stopping at one after another just to take them in. 🌸

No two seem quite alike. Some are soft and delicate, others are bold and dramatic, and each has its own color, shape, and personality. It’s one thing to see them in a photograph, but there’s something very different about standing among them in the garden.

Our flower fields have brought a whole new kind of beauty to Purple Adobe Lavender Farm this season, and I would love for you to come experience them for yourself. Wander through the gardens, slow down for a while, and see which dahlia becomes your favorite.

Today we’re back in the zinnia field, but this time I’m showing you what happens after the harvest. 🌸
I’ve gathered some of today’s flowers and wanted to share a closer look at just how different they can be. Different colors, different shapes, different sizes, and each one bringing something special to the bundle.

That may be one of my favorite things about growing zinnias. You never quite know what you’re going to find as you walk through the field, and once they’re harvested and gathered together, all those individual flowers make such a beautiful combination.

The dahlias are really beginning to put on a show, and I wanted to stop and share a few of the different varieties with you. Each one seems to have its own personality, from the shape of the petals to the beautiful colors and combinations that appear as they open.

There is something especially wonderful about walking through a field of dahlias. You think you’ve found your favorite, and then a few steps later, there’s another one that catches your eye. 🌸

These flower gardens are still something new here at Purple Adobe Lavender Farm, and it has been such a pleasure sharing them with you as they grow and change through the season.

Our First Sunflower Has Arrived! 🌻

I’ve been waiting for this moment. Today, walking through our new sunflower field, I found the very first sunflower to bloom.

And what a beauty she is. Shades of warm gold, bronze and deep russet, standing there all by herself as if to announce that the sunflower field is officially beginning. 🌻✨

When we planted this field, I had visions of those wonderful sunflower fields of Provence, rows of flowers glowing beneath the summer sun. And now it begins with just one.

Over the coming days, more and more of these beauties will begin to open, and I can hardly wait to watch the field transform.

Today’s cut comes from our Benary’s Giant Lime Zinnia, and these flowers certainly live up to their name.

Big, bold blooms with layer upon layer of petals, each one seems to have its own personality. I love walking this row and seeing the different colors and forms opening every day. And the more we cut them, the more they keep giving us!

Day Five of our Cut of the Day! 🌸✂️

Today I took a little diversion from the zinnia field because I simply couldn’t walk past these dahlias without sharing them with you.

They are big, bold, absolutely beautiful, and putting on quite a show in the flower fields right now. 🌺💕 Sometimes the flower of the day chooses itself, and today these dahlias certainly did!

One of the things I love most about our new flower fields is that there is always something different blooming and something new to discover.

Come wander through the fields, enjoy the flowers, and stop by our Bouquet Bar to choose some favorite stems and create a bouquet of your own. 💐🌿

Day Four of our Cut of the Day! 🌸✂️

Today’s little treasure from the zinnia field is appropriately named Little Flower Girl. 🌸💕💐
These sweet zinnias were developed with flower girl bouquets for weddings in mind, and you can certainly see why. Their smaller, delicate blooms are just the right size for little hands to carry down the aisle.

There’s something especially charming about a flower created for such a lovely purpose. I can just picture a little bouquet of these on a beautiful summer wedding day. 💕🌸

Day Three of our Cut of the Day! 🌸✂️

Today’s walk through the zinnia field brought me to this beautiful Lemon Yellow Giant. 💛🌼
Big, bright and such a lovely soft shade of lemon yellow, this one seems to bring a little sunshine of its own to the flower field.

Three days into our walk and already we’ve seen just how different each zinnia can be. Different colors, different shapes and each one with a personality all its own.

I wonder which one will catch my eye tomorrow? 🌸🌿
