A recent investigation by Consumer Reports found that 90% of popular synthetic hair-braiding brands contain lead, a heavy metal known to pose health risks over time. Additionally, all samples were found to contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as methylene chloride, which have been linked to various cancers.
