Always so satisfying to look back at the starting point compared to present day 👌🏼 Obsessed with this beauty in a darker shade 🤎

No extensions here, just time & the alchemy that happens in my chair, which includes:

Multiple Sessions
Micro Trims
Minimal Bleach
Hydrate s/c

If you have ever experienced any damage to your hair, please watch & read. It will save the health of your hair.

❌ No Heat with Bleach Lightener ❌

I’m all for bending rules when it’s suitable AND SAFE, but this is one area where it is incredibly irresponsible to break this specific manufacturer’s rule...

When performing/receiving bleach highlights, an external heat source should never be used, especially for an extended period of time.

Anything beyond 90 seconds (done in 10-30 second increments) of gentle heat to boost the coldest area of the head is a risk of irreversible damage.

✅ There are ways to mitigate the use of heat ✅

*Start at the top and work down: This helps keep processing times even based on body heat factors, but it isn’t always the most practical way to place foils.

*Start in the back: If you begin in the nape, remember that those foils will sit the longest and they naturally process faster because of body heat. For this reason, always start with the lowest volume developer at the back and pull them out when they are at the desired level/tone regardless of where you are in the application process.

❗️BOTTOM LINE❗️

Bleach lightener needs to be respected by licensed professionals. I’ve seen it mishandled and used recklessly for 20 years and I can’t believe that I’m still seeing it over and over again to this day.

I love transforming a client’s hair and seeing how much better it gets over the course of time-it is literally my favorite thing. But chemical damage is happening at a rate that is just unacceptable from licensed professionals (especially given the amount of free education there is on social media).

Clients: save and share this video to spread the word about bleach lightener/manufacturer instructions. And it’s ok to advocate for yourself when you are sitting in a stylist’s chair!

Stylists: respect your client and the chemical you are placing on their hair/scalp.

If you like this type of content, stay tuned, much more on the way!
