We have a special announcement that many of you may not yet be aware of. After 27 years since we first opened Signatures Salon & Day Spa, Kirk and I are retiring and have sold the salon. Don't worry though, you can rest assured you will be in great hands!

Two of Altoona’s most prestigious salons are joining forces: Hair FX Salon & Spa and Signatures Salon & Day Spa!

Both teams will be together at the Signatures location; the current plan is by November 1 if all the stars align! You will see the same smiling facing of our Signatures team moving forward; along with the amazing stylists of HairFx Salon & Spa.

From Teri To My Dear Clients,

First, I want to say what a privilege it has been to be your hairstylist—and, even more importantly, your friend. For some of you, that friendship has been 38 years! Can you believe that? No matter how long our paths have crossed, it has been one of the greatest blessings of my life to have each and every one of you in it.

Signatures has been like our baby to Kirk and me. It has been our life’s work, our passion, and a place where our team and guests have become so much more than clients and coworkers. You have become family.

As we look forward to this new chapter in our lives, I want you to know that I could not have handpicked a better person to carry Signatures forward and bring our two teams together.

I have known her since she was a little girl, riding her bicycle to our home to house-sit and care for our pets. Watching her grow into the woman and professional she is today, makes this transition especially meaningful to me. I know her heart, her character, and her passion for this industry. I truly believe she will care for you with the same kindness, love, and compassion that I have always hoped you felt from me.

I want to share something that may help you understand just how personal this goodbye is for me.

You all made my days.

You made me laugh until my sides hurt. You trusted me with your stories, your families, your celebrations, and sometimes your hardest moments. I was fortunate enough to be part of your lives through dances, graduations, weddings, divorces, births, funerals, effing cancer, and so many other health struggles and life changes.

I didn’t just get to do your hair—I got to know you. I watched your children grow up, heard about your grandchildren, celebrated your milestones, and sometimes simply got to be the person you could talk to when you needed someone to listen.

That is why I can honestly say I have been one very lucky woman. I got to spend my career doing something I loved, surrounded by people I loved.

The hardest part of retiring has been saying goodbye.

Many of you may have wondered why I didn’t tell you sooner. Because of confidentiality agreements, I was unable to share the news before now. But the truth is, even without that, I don’t know how I could have said goodbye to each of you individually. I would have cried my way through every appointment and never made it to my next client!

For someone who loves happy hugs as much as I do, that says a lot.

Please know that not having the opportunity to say goodbye to each of you personally was never a reflection of how much you mean to me. Quite the opposite—you mean more than I could ever put into words.

While my heart is a little heavy, Kirk and I are also genuinely excited for this next chapter of our lives. After a 38 year long career and 27 years of of owning Signatures Salon & Day Spa, long days, 50-plus-hour weeks, 12-hour days, and fixing everything that decided to break, we are ready to catch our breath! Whew! 🙌🏼

I also leave knowing that Signatures is in good hands.

The combined Signatures and HairFx teams are incredibly talented, and there are exciting plans ahead, including renovations and new ideas for the salon. Much will feel familiar, while other things will continue to grow and evolve. The biggest difference is simply that Kirk and Teri won’t be there anymore.

But the love, friendships, laughter, and memories we have made will always be part of Signatures.

Thank you for trusting me with your hair, your stories, your families, and so many chapters of your lives. Thank you for allowing me to be part of yours.

You were never just my clients. You were part of my life, and I will carry that with me always.
