Heartsong Herbs is a small farm and apothecary located in Athens, Ga. We grow our herbs using no-till, organic farming practices.

Each spring we sell medicinal herb seedlings, and we sell fresh herbs throughout the growing season.

Today is the day!!✨✨ After an unbelievable amount of work to get Certified Organic and then another mountain of work to rebrand, we have made it to this special moment! Today we’re celebrating the collective effort this took to pull off.

So many hands and hearts made this possible. A giant thank you to Marshall Hudson and Tiger's Eye for the many hours of logo and label design, and to my dear employee carolyn suzanne for building out the website of my dreams (go check it out!). So grateful for all the Heartsong Herbs staff for holding it down so I could move us into HSH 2.0!

Story behind the logo… I went on a shamanic journey with a dear friend of mine. She brought me to stand before the heart of the Earth, at the very center of our planet. I asked the heart of the Earth to show me the light of my own heart and was blasted by rainbow light. My heart shines in every color of the rainbow and this work, helping people through plants, lights me up like nothing else. Thank you Nalu Ma for bringing my light into focus✨

And thank you all from the bottom of my very lit up heart for being here and supporting this work we do!

All my love,
Dana

Just like the sun in this pic we are about to pop out from behind the shadows. Our rebrand launches next week and we’re beyond thrilled to finally get to show off what we’ve been working on!

One change that takes effect at the time of our launch is that our kid formulas will be put on hold until later in the year. So grab them while you can! We hope to have these back in stock by November.

Rebranding has involved a phenomenal amount of work but this labor of love is almost to the finish line. So meet us back here next Wednesday to watch us cross it ✨

Ps. The cloud situation in Athens lately has been STUNNING. My camera feed has shifted from plants and kiddos to nothing but clouds☁️☁️☁️☁️

✨BIG NEWS✨ Heartsong Herbs tinctures are now USDA Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth!!! This has been in the works for over a year and we are thrilled to finally be across the finish line.

We’re currently working on a new website and rebrand for our Certified Organic labels that we’re hoping to launch by mid July! Between now and then we’ve got lots of info to share that goes along with this big change.

Thank you for being here and seeing us into the next iteration of Heartsong Herbs✨

One of the best dreams I’ve ever had in my life I was a field of California Poppy. Not just one plant but the whole entire field. It’s a hard feeling to describe but it reminded me of the collective human experience. Not just one person (flower) but the whole of humanity (field). Have you ever had an off day for no apparent reason and thought maybe you were just picking up on all the crap in the world? Picking up on the collective funk? It seems inevitable.

Thankfully there is a lot we can do to protect our energy and and our nervous systems. I love that this dream of California Poppy got me thinking of the collective because it’s so good for the anxiety that I feel like travels through air these days. When you get hit by a wave of collective funk the poppies are here for you. The anecdote to funky waves🧡

300,000 years. That’s how long it’s estimated our species has been on this planet in our current homo sapiens arrangement. And for almost all of that time, we lived in close relationship with the earth: her plants, critters, seasons, weather, and cycles.

We learned what nourished us, what healed us, what could harm us, what could be woven, brewed, eaten, planted, and foraged. That deep knowing of the natural world was not some frivolous hobby or alternative belief system. It is the reason we are here today.

And yet somewhere along the way, we began to tell a different story and treat nature as something “out there,” something separate from us, something optional. It is worth questioning the modern assumption that this ancient way of knowing is irrelevant to our lives today. It is worth questioning the idea that plant medicine is somehow lesser when it comes to the everyday challenges of being human: stress, grief, inflammation, poor sleep, digestion, nervous system depletion, seasonal allergies, hormonal shifts, and all the ways our bodies require care. Plants have been our singular, powerful medicine cabinet to meet these challenges for the better part of a quarter million years. Herbal medicine is not alternative medicine. It is the original medicine.

Plants have been tending to life for a very, very long time. Our long survival as a species is not evidence of our separation from nature, but of the power of living in alignment with it.

Each of us can begin walking this path again, in small and meaningful ways. Plant a garden. Take a hike. Say hello to a bug. Notice what’s blooming. Learn the name of a plant. Teach your children to be in relationship with the earth. Take a tincture! Challenge what we’ve been taught to accept as normal.

We are only here today because, for most of our history, we understood that there is no real separation between us and nature. Maybe one by one, we can start to remember that.

Mimosa Bark Harvest✨ The flowers get all the glory but its the combination of the 2 that is so powerfully uplifting. Mimosa flower medicine without the bark gives a slightly manic feeling that burns out quickly, leaving you a little hung over. Adding bark medicine balances the high with a beautiful grounding energy. We’ve found that even a 1:1 is a little too ungrounded. More bark than flower, more earth than air is where it’s at. Mimosa medicine is incredibly time consuming, but the end result feels like liquid sunshine, illuminating all that is beautiful in this world. ✨

This is where it all started for me✨ 20 years ago I spent 2 years as an intern at Full Sun Farm in Big Sandy Mush, outside of Asheville. I hold this place and these people so close to my heart. Alex and Vanessa made such a massive influence on my life and I truly wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for them. I hadn’t been back to Sandy Mush in 12 years. Seeing the farm and my friends again was such a gift and it illuminated the sweetness of my journey to where I am now. I love you Thank you, for everything💚💚
