Gotta love the mid-session lore drop that changes your entire focus area! (Not sarcasm) Shoulder pain that seemingly came out of no where? Ok. Let’s check it out! But wait… you had injuries to the opposite ankle that predate it?! *change to ankle rehab* *shoulder pain lessens* *client gives you a hug afterwards because “it’s been YEARS…”*

Every body is different. The problem isn’t always where you -think- it is. Trust the process.

Not really. But this is bringing back memories.

Yesterday, Cierra (R&O Glow) and I did a product patch test to see if there was any interaction in how our products work together. I’ve worked on enough people who have come for a massage after a spray tan, only to finish with them streaky and my hands & sheets stained. After is a no-no. But what about before? We wanted to see if the products I use would affect the absorption of hers and how we could prep a client if they did. Basically we sectioned off parts of my leg with nothing applied, with massage creme/oil applied, and with the massage creme/oil wiped off with a damp towel or wet wipe. We used her “dark” for maximum contrast to see any uneven spots. Since we were focused more on absorption over esthetics, we didn’t worry about harsh lines. I was fully prepared to have weird streaks and splotches (I’m willing to look silly. You know…for science…)

The good news is our products work together fabulously and everything we sprayed came out super even!

The hilarious (to me) news is we did absolutely nothing to my arms. At all. There’s just THAT much of a contrast.

Sooooo….I guess the results are pretty natural looking? Even when using “dark” on my sickly-Victorian-child, practically-translucent, I-should-probably-go-haunt-something complexion?

Has it been over 20 years since my legs have had this much contrast? Yes. Does it make me want to mark a grid and challenge my brother to see who can still lock in an 8 to 5 roll step? Also yes.

….at least -this- line won’t be a perma-fixture for 4+ years. 🤣

I’ve done this at least 4 times in the last month. Another few with the catch-all millennial playlist. They’re some of my better sessions. But don’t worry - if it’s not your jam I’ve got a KILLER lo-fi playlist (I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been asked to share it with people/therapists/students for them to use!)

Music is *always* something you can customize in a session. Don’t be afraid to ask!!
