Please join us in welcoming Elizabeth A. Moroni, MD, MHA. Dr. Moroni is a dual-fellowship trained reconstructive surgeon specializing in the care of patients with complex surgical needs. After completing residency at the renowned University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Moroni completed a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at the Buncke Clinic, where she specialized in complex microsurgical reconstruction. After this, she pursued an additional year of training at the Ohio State University, where she further specialized in functional extremity reconstruction including amputation care and peripheral nerve surgery. She is excited to apply this expertise to help restore form and function for patients with upper and lower extremity injuries.

Our breast reconstruction PAs completed the Vicky Martin Method ni**le tattooing training with Laura Cavalcanti just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day.

Thank you to the four amazing women who allowed us to learn on their reconstructed breasts! You were all patient, understanding, kind and a joy to work with. We hope you are as satisfied with your results as we are!

PGY-2 Caitlin Foster, MD, grew up in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and attended medical school at University of Connecticut School of Medicine. While Foster has not yet landed on her career focus, she appreciates the diversity of plastic surgery and is open to pursuing a lot of different things within the field. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, playing volleyball, reading and spending time with family and friends. Fun fact: Foster is a die-hard Harry Potter fan.

Please join us in welcoming Zoe Bloom, PA-C! Bloom received her PA/MPH degree from Arcadia University in 2016. For the past nine years, she has had the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Ketan Patel in Los Angeles, specializing in microsurgery with a primary focus on breast reconstruction and lymphedema. Bloom is excited to be moving back to Colorado to be closer to family and to join the Plastic Surgery team at CU Anschutz.

Bloom grew up in Lafayette, so returning to Colorado feels a bit like coming home. She is looking forward to bringing her experience in microsurgery and reconstructive care to the team and, most of all, getting to know and to work with everyone.

Outside of work, Bloom enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters (ages 3 and 5) and their Labradoodle, Maggie. Bloom loves spending time outdoors, and she especially enjoys snowboarding, traveling and cooking.

Keriayn Schafer, business services professional for our division, attended the Association of Academic Surgical Administrators (AASA) annual conference in Washington, D.C. as the new Western Region Representative. As a regional representative, she serves as the liaison between the Western region and the board of directors.

Please join us in welcoming Courtney Fields, PA-C. Fields graduated from the University of Kentucky PA Program in 2022 after attending UK for undergrad and growing up in Lexington, KY. She then moved to Houston, TX, and worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center in their plastic and reconstructive surgery department, where she mainly did breast, abdominal wall, lymphedema and orthopedic reconstruction. Fields left Texas in December and has been solo backpacking around the world for the past eight months. She is looking forward to having a routine again, to making a new home in Denver and to learning how to snowboard.

Thank you to Visiting Professor Reuben A. Bueno, MD, MBA, the section chief of Pediatric Hand and Microvascular Surgery Phoenix Children's for your time with our residents on Friday, August 28! Dr. Bueno’s lectures included “Pediatric hand fractures: Shared decision making in the era of D1 aspirations, helicopter parents, patient satisfaction surveys, and market share data” and “Decision making in the management of adult and pediatric upper extremity bone and soft tissue trauma from simple to complex.”

Please join us in welcoming William Wilson, MSN, AGPCNP-BC. Will has lived in Denver since 2010 and attended the University of Colorado for both his BSN and MSN. Will has spent the last nine years as an operating room nurse, with the majority of his experience being in orthopedic and reconstructive plastic surgery. Will is excited to join the Division of Plastic Surgery as an APP and to provide exceptional care through compassion, empathy and respect. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his husband and son, getting outside as much as possible, listening to good music and catching up with friends. Will is ready to start the next chapter of his career and is looking forward to the challenge!
