A Personal Reflection:

My Why, My Journey and What's Next!

This month, I had an epiphany.

As many of you know, I absolutely love what I do—but something hit me on a deeper level this month. I experienced one of the most intense physical pains of my life: sciatica followed by major dental work. For days, I couldn’t get out of bed. Simple tasks became difficult. It humbled me. But in the middle of that pain, while sitting in my doctor’s office in tears, I found myself saying, “I just want to be able to do what I love.”

And that’s when it really hit me, I’m living my dream. I get to do what I’ve always loved: hair. I’m finally walking in the career I used to only imagine for myself as a child.

Growing up, I had two dream jobs: I wanted to be either a hairstylist or a lawyer with a corner office. But while lawyers felt distant and unreachable in my world, hairstylists were everywhere. They were strong, stylish, powerful women—and I admired them deeply.

One of my earliest inspirations was a woman named Sheryl who braided hair in my neighborhood on Pitts Place SE in Washington, DC. I became her little assistant—running errands, sweeping hair, and soaking in everything about her. Even though we lived in subsidized housing, Sheryl stood out. Her home was always neat, her kids were well taken care of, and she had a car when most didn’t. She made something beautiful out of what little we had—and she did it with her hands and her craft. I wanted to be just like her.

Throughout my life, I continued to meet women in this profession who left lasting impressions on me. Like the stylist in high school who took me home after appointments so my grandmother wouldn’t have to. Or the one who, despite being in a difficult marriage, opened her home to help keep a friend’s family off the streets. I saw hairstylists not just as artists—but as caregivers, nurturers, providers, and community pillars.

When I started working for Bruce Johnson, my first real salon job, I learned the discipline, professionalism, and foundation I still use in my business today. To this day, when I feel like I’m not showing up as I should, I think of Bruce. I remember the standards he held me to—and the pride he instilled in me.

This month, my injury reminded me of something important: I’ve been taking all of this for granted. I had stopped appreciating the fact that I was living my dream. I had stopped pouring into it the way it deserved. I was letting it slip through my fingers—and my body responded accordingly. But now, I hear the wake-up call loud and clear.

Moving forward, I’m walking like I know I’m living the dream—because I am.
I won’t fumble this opportunity. I won’t take this life, this business, this passion, or YOU—my amazing clients—for granted.

I'm closing out July with much gratitude--and let's Welcome August. I look forward to serving you soon—and doing it with more love, purpose, and gratitude than ever before.

A more open and airy layout to create a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere.

While I’m taking it step-by-step, there’s so much more I’m planning to bring to life in the coming months. Every upgrade is designed with YOU in mind—to make sure your time at the salon feels like an escape from the outside world.

Hello Beauties!!

Summer is finally here—and for me, it's like my personal New Year. With my birthday around the corner, this season always sparks deep reflection and renewal in my life. Spring brought a beautiful wave of rejuvenation, and now I’m stepping into summer with fresh energy and exciting updates for the salon.

This past year has been a journey as I’ve adjusted to new motherhood. It’s been a whirlwind, but I’m finally in a place where I can fully pour back into my passion and this space we’ve created together. Thank you—from the bottom of my heart—for your patience, grace, and unwavering support. Whether you’ve been with me from the start or just joined my community, every kind word and visit has meant the world to me.

As I look ahead, I’m focused on building the perfect client tribe—a circle of amazing women who are committed to their self-care and ready to invest in a consistent hair care routine. And honestly...I feel like I’m already attracting the most beautiful, intelligent women in Austin. You all inspire me daily.

Now, let’s keep the good vibes rolling! Here’s everything you need to know for June...

Starting in July 2025, I will no longer be using GlossGenius or StyleSeat for bookings. I will solely be using Square for booking all apointments. You can book directly through cohesivebeauty.com (http://www.cohesivebeauty.com) or cohesivebeauty.square.site

1. Late Arrival Policy: Clients arriving more than 20 minutes late may need to reschedule if I don't have time in my schedule to service you that day. You will need to pay in full for the rescheduled service.

2. Deposit Requirements: Customers who frequently cancel (2 or more in a row) or No-show will need to pay a non refundable payment in full up front.
All Color Services will require a non-refundable $50 Deposit
All Microlink and Tape-In services will require a non-refundable $50 Deposit

3. Waitlist Option: There is a waitlist option that will alert you if there are available spaces open. Please be sure to submit the dates you are interested in and you will be notified of openings.

4. New Client Agreement: Please be sure to read the New Client agreement to understand policies and to update your profile with any hair concerns or goals.

5. Emergency Exceptions: I do realize that life happens, and I will make exceptions to the late cancellation policy for emergencies. However, consistent cancellations or frequent emergencies will incur fees.

HEADS-UP: Price Increase Coming September 2025

In order to continue offering the best service and to begin adding premium-quality products, a price increase will go into effect September 1st, 2025. I'll be sharing updated pricing by August so you'll have plenty of time to plan. I appreciate your continued support as my business grows and evolves.

This Mother's Day feels especially meaningful to me. As I continue to grow in my own journey through motherhood, I want to pause and thank each of you for more than just your support as clients.

I'm beyond thankful for all the incredible moms who've stood by me--encouraging me, offering advice, sharing tips, showing patience, and pouring out so much love during my transition into motherhood. Your kindness and understanding have helped me navigate one of the most beautiful but challenging seasons of my life.

Running a business while becoming a new mom has had its ups and downs, but knowing I have a community of strong, inspiring women behind me has made all the difference. I truly appreciate each of you--not just for your loyalty, but for your hearts.
