Safety and skin health always come first! While waxing gives you smooth, long lasting results, it isn’t always the best option for everyone. Check out this list before booking your next appointment to see if you should pause or hold off on waxing:

❌ 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀: If you are currently taking Accutane or have finished within the last 6 months, waxing is a strict no-go. Accutane thins the skin significantly, making it prone to lifting or tearing.

❌ 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗶𝗱 & 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗶𝗱 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀: Using Tretinoin, Retin-A, Differin, or high percentage acids on the treatment area? Hold off on waxing that spot! These ingredients compromise the skin barrier and increase the risk of skin lifting.

❌ 𝗜𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻: If you have an active rash, sunburn, eczema flare-up, open wounds, or severe acne in the area, waxing will only aggravate it. Wait until your skin is fully healed.

❌ 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Just got a chemical peel, Botox, or microdermabrasion? Give your skin time to recover! Always consult your esthetician about appropriate wait times between treatments.

❌ 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 & 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Cancer treatments make the skin exceptionally sensitive and fragile. Waxing should be avoided during these therapies.

❌ 𝗛𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁: If your hair isn’t at least ¼ inch long (about the size of a grain of rice), the wax won’t be able to grab it properly, leading to uneven results or unnecessary irritation.
