A little personal share 💛 … A few years ago, I was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer. Mine showed up as a small spot that just looked a little “abnormal”.
The good news: I immediately saw my dermatologist and was able to treat it early.
BCC is usually very treatable when caught early. But that’s the key, early detection.
This was a reminder to me that although I’m great at wearing my SPF daily now, that wasn’t always the case and the damage was already be done.

Here’s your reminder:
☀️ Wear your SPF every single day (even on cloudy days)
☀️ Pay attention to any new or changing spots on your skin
☀️ Keep up with regular skin checks
If something looks “off,” don’t wait. Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and it deserves your care and attention.

Sharing this because if my story encourages even one person to check their skin or book a dermatologist visit, it’s worth it. 💛✨

To ensure your first experience is as painless and perfect as possible, follow these 7 golden rules:

1. Let it grow! 🌾 Resist the urge to shave. Your hair needs to be about ¼ inch long (think the size of a grain of rice). Let it grow for 2–3 weeks before your appointment so the wax can actually grab it.
2. Exfoliate the day before: 🛁 Gently scrub the area the day before your appointment. This removes dead skin cells and lifts trapped hairs for a much cleaner pull.
3. Keep it clean & dry: 🧴 Do not apply oils, lotions, or gels to the area on the day of your wax. Clean, dry skin allows the wax to adhere perfectly.
4. Think loose & breathable: 👗 Leave the skinny jeans at home. Wear loose, comfy clothing to your appointment to avoid friction and irritation on your freshly waxed skin.
5. Avoid caffeine and alcohol several hours before your appointment. ☕️🍷 Both dehydrate the skin, overstimulate the nervous system, and heighten pain receptors. (Save the cocktail for after!).
6. Pop an ibuprofen: 💊 If you’re worried about your pain tolerance, take an ibuprofen about an hour before your appointment to help with any discomfort and reduce inflammation.
7. Relax! 🧘‍♀️ Take a deep breath. You are in expert, gentle hands. The anticipation is always worse than the actual appointment, and we promise the results are SO worth it.
